Nav-based Preconditioning

Pulling some data out here because I'd never heard of preconditioning kicking off with a L2 charger as an intermediate destination in the nav system. The process kicked off as described elsewhere when around 20 miles from the destination until I removed the destination because I didn't want preconditioning eating up energy needlessly for a L2 charger. EDIT: confirmed this still happens as of April 2024, be mindful of plugging L2 chargers directly into nav, you'll burn a few kwh needlessly warming up the battery for AC charging.

Unsurprisingly, the rate of increase for DCFC limit and battery temp metrics is correlated with the coolant loop kw ramping up and down. That's how the hidden feature is understood to work, but again, this was the first time I've heard of it kicking in for an AC charger in the nav.

I surreptitiously updated my post on charging, but just want to highlight some data to support that 120V charging is limited to 1.2kW at the onboard charger level, regardless of circuit and EVSE capacity.

Basically, don't expect to get 2.4kW charging speeds at 30A campground hookups, even with a 24A EVSE and TT-30 adapter.

We got off to an inauspicious start by losing a mud flap fastener on the first leg.
I've 'consumed' a couple of those plastic diverters/ mud flaps. I was pleasantly surprised how inexpensive they were to replace through ford parts.

Many thanks for sharing your stories and the solutions to various problems.

I never thought I'd see "inexpensive" and "Ford" in the same sentence...
