I just got a 3D printer (Bambu Lab A1) and I finally made the MagSafe (Qi2) charger I’ve always wanted for the car.
No visible cords or pucks! The best part is, it charges faster and consistently. Links to the models below.

It took a bunch of test prints to get the shape, pattern, and cord trough right.

Printed in PLA. I tried TPU, but the quality of the texture on the mat was not as good. The part the phone sits on needed to be super thin where the puck is to get the magnets to hold well, so that texture was achieved using a textured bed plate.
I bought a slim USB C connector to make the bend up to the port and the Apple MagSafe puck plugs into that.

Edit:
I just uploaded the model files to Printables and MakerWorld!

Links below. Let me know if you have any questions. Please share pics if you print it too!

I’m okay with the factory install with the exception that my device at times runs not

You may want to consider reprinting that in PETG or ABS or something when summer comes around. PLA tends to warp and deform pretty badly in heat. It might be fine being down so low in the console and not in direct sunlight, but just a heads-up to keep an eye on it when it gets warm again.

Do you plan on selling these? If not, I suggest you post the files and links to the charger and cord on thingiverse.com or makerworld.com so others can make one too.

Ditto on this, except I would recommend ASA as the best filament for inside the car. Even my snap-in work console which was about 8mm thick at the thinnest point warped while under the rear seat of my F150:

Thanks for the heads up. So far it’s done ok with the heat from charging, but I’m sure that will be compounded by the summer heat.
I wanted to print it in TPU, but it didn’t do well with the texture on the mat.

I’m going to share it. I just want to make sure it holds up and doesn’t need any revisions before I post it.

Very nice. I wonder if it is possible to switch the USB-C and A around so that the A isn't blocked.
Do you have a link for the USB-C cable you have there? No need, there are plenty of them on Amazon

This is the one I bought.
USB C Charger Cable, 60W 3.3ft... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CCKQ27BM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I looked hard for a USB A Right angle that had as small as a profile and I couldn’t find one. Also the MagSafe puck is USB C and I wanted to keep it all C.

Following this thread for when you post the files somewhere!

Were you trying in 95A TPU? I wonder if Bambu's new 68D TPU would come out better. Quite a bit stiffer material, but seems like it would give a better surface finish while still giving a "rubberized" feel and being heat resistant enough for surviving in a car. Haven't actually ordered some myself yet, but would be interested in trying it out for this print.

You'll definitely have issues with PLA deforming in the summer in the car unless you're garage parked 100% of the time. I printed some of the rear cover retention clips (https://www.printables.com/model/168742-mustang-mach-e-shelf-clip) in PLA years ago and they lasted about 2 days before deforming. My PETG ones have survived a couple of Colorado summers without issue.

It may not be widely known that the factory installed charger pad (WACM) in the MME is not compatible with any Apple iPhone with a magsafe charging system. None of them.

Ford thought it was a good idea to include a wireless charging pad that is incompatible with the phones owned by a majority of Americans? 🤦🏻

Now, I’d like to know if anybody has successfully upgraded the charging pads in the @twraps dual MagSafe pad. I love the design of that item but it is quite slow to charge. I took it apart and it looks easily upgradable but I’m not eager to pull apart the dongle where the wires come together.

Apple declined to share the MagSafe specs with Ford at the time the car was being designed and engineered. This feature may change at model refresh — whenever that actually occurs.

Which is funny now in 2024 because every no-name piece of junk charger on Amazon works with MagSafe, but I know that MagSafe was just coming out when the Mach-E was in development. As you say, hopefully in next gen.

It’s annoying to say the least. I just plug the phone into the USB-C port it if I’m doing a fair bit of driving (around the island or 2+ hours). It’d be nice if the thing actually worked and didn’t toast our Foxconn specials.
