I will say, as I think has happened whenever Synch or Android Auto updates at first, that Android Auto has now become very unreliable - can't use it all for phone calls, I've been disconnecting and switching to bluetooth

I received the update today, but the car got too excited and applied it completely outside the schedule while I was having dinner with a friend. I came back aroun 8pm and the UI was completely updated. No warning on FP or on the sync4a screen. I have the update schedule set to 2AM.
Funny thing is that as I was driving to meet my friend, the mirrors didn’t unfold after I was moving (had to manually press the button on the door), the backup camera was completely distorted, and the Bluetooth audio (Spotify) through android auto wouldn’t turn off (I was trying to listen to NPR on the radio to no avail).
But... it's updated now. 3.6.2, 4.1.1, and 4.1.2 all in like 8 days.

The schedule only applies to inhibit updates.

Congrats on the update. I'm still on 3.5.4.

FYI, the update schedule is only for updates which inhibit driving of the car. Most updates (including the one you received) install in the background while the car is on, and then activate the next time the car key is cycled. Which is why you noticed it when you did. And perhaps also explains the glitches you experienced - things seem to get wonky when the update is installing in the background.

I got a survey today for early access, related to update 4.1.2. Why are they sending this survey to an update that I have not gotten yet. 3.6.2 was my last update. :(
In the survey they ask about the “App Drawer” and I’m thinking what is the “App Drawer” and why are we now using that term. They also now have named something the Information Ribbon.

I love how developers come up with names but sometimes forget to tell the users.

The new ui needed to be accompanied by a link to a website pointing out new features and changes including where various things were moved to such as the trunk button, frunk button (for non job 1 cars), where the charger settings went to, and similar such things. That would be a good place to introduce new terminology as well.

My wife and I have been having this issue for about the last month and a half (Mach-e and Lightning / Pixel 5 and Pixel 7 Pro). We are pretty sure it happened after an android auto update and that the problem lies there vs. an issue with Sync since it started happening at the same time us and neither vehicle had a sync update at that time.

Everything else seems to be OK, but the phone issue is a pain. It seems to take about 3 tries for any call to go through without disconnecting.

We have also found it to be more of an issue when you are first getting into the car and starting off. If you have been driving awhile the phone is more reliable through AA.

Seems to be happening with bluetooth connection as well but that may be AA trying to reconnect after I switch to BT.

Got the update yesterday without a notification of new update not EA. I don’t like different! Especially Apple Music-my album covers are smaller on bigger screen area. Also don’t like looking all the way down to see what volume numbers I’m on.

The image that comes to mind when I read the complaints about the new UI.

I absolutely hate the white buttons on the dark mode layout. What designer through it would be a good idea to put two different color buttons on the top bar? When clicking on them they turn the correct color, but the overall behavior of 3 icons differs from the other two. Highlighting the active icon would work, but they have it back-ass-wards.

Also hate the fact that the profile button is on the far right with the clock and status icons moved into an awkward semi-right position. Everything, from phones to tablets to TVs, to MacOS always have the clock/status icons in the furthermost top right.

Putting 2 different calls to action in a single button, such as the power/volume label in the center of the circular adjuster is dumb.

The use of the home icon is very strange. No one thinks the app tray is "home". The home icon is used to take someone back "home" to a display that they would normally remain on. The switches icon (double toggle) is a strange pick for settings. It should be a cogwheel.

To top it all off, they use two solid icons and then, the camera is an outline icon.

I'm shocked that this got released with these obvious design issues.
