DETROIT (Reuters) - A leading electric vehicle charging network and a trade group that represents America’s travel plazas and truck stops said on Thursday they plan to leverage $1 billion through public and private funding sources over the next decade to encourage the broader adoption of EVs...

ChargePoint, which operates but does not own its charging network, and the National Association of Truck Stop Operators (NATSO) told Reuters they formed the National Highway Charging Collaborative, with plans to install Level 2 and DC fast chargers at more than 4,000 U.S. locations by 2030 to expand EV charging along highways and in rural communities.

This looks like a press release but with the beginnings of a plan behind it. If they're able to line up the funds, I think this has great potential to expand the charging network big time.

One would hope that they already have a lot of the funding lined up prior to releasing the press release. Sadly, that isn't always the case, however.

Level 2 stations? We really need more DC fast (level 3) along the highways with level 2 at designations. Too many areas that do not even have 1 fast DC charger.

Yeah, Level 2s make no sense at a truck stop unless you're sleeping in the car overnight. These should really be all 150kW or greater DCFCs.

, what price do they need to sell per kWh to make money?--why not charge what Tesla does: 0.28 cents per minute.

With slow charging times (maybe 2 customers per hour per charger), it probably takes a long time to recover the costs of building and maintaining chargers.

Not sure about Tesla, but it seems like EAs chargers are frequently broken and need maintenance.
