5/2/22 Build Week Gang

This will be my first time starting a thread here. Didn't see a thread started yet so here goes. Hope I don't break anything...

Got my build date verbally with a VIN number when I went in to check on my order Thursday 4/7/22. Guy at the dealership said, "Oh. Yeah, looks like that got scheduled last week." Nothing by email yet from the dealer or from Ford. Fingers crossed and here's wishing us all smooth sailing from here on out to delivery!

Unfortunately got the email today my date was pushed from 4/18 to now 5/2. So, Hi, I guess?

Yeah my GTPE was scheduled 04/25 and was expecting to be switched with seeing that there was no production week schelduled for the week of 04/25. Just got the email today that I'm scheduled for 05/02 and hoping nothing changes....but any changes b4 05/02 will be nice.

After almost 6 months of lurking I finally got a build date.

Premium RWD SR in Grabber Blue

Ordered: 10/27/21
Scheduled week of 5/2/22

I don't even really care if I actually get built that week it's just nice to get acknowledgement from Ford that I and my order exist.

I was extremely lucky and found a dealer with an open dealer allocation and build date slotted for May. They were going to use the allocation to bring in a GTPE as a stock vehicle but offered me the spot for a custom build with no ADM. I was highly skeptical, first with the no ADM, and second I thought this was a bait by the dealer to get me to put in a retail order, which would put me at the end of the line waiting 28+ weeks. After discussions and reassurance I went ahead and put a deposit in for a Premium AWD with extended battery in Dark Matter Grey on 03/22/22. Two days later on 03/24/22 my sales rep confirmed a scheduled build for May 2nd. I reached out to the dealer this week and they provided a VIN, I suspect it was available earlier but I never asked until recently.

A few takeaways from my experience:

• Dealer allocations matter A LOT in build prioritization. If they have one or several available or know they'll be getting allocations in the future then they can readily convert a retail or online reservation into an order and build date. For future Mach-E/Bronco/Maverick/Lightning buyers do some initial leg work and call around several dealerships before submitting a reservation, you'll also want to know how many orders they already have in the que waiting for a build date.
• I live in Canada where Ford and its dealership partners may work differently. We obviously get significantly less allocations up north and therefore the dealers may have more transparency when it comes to allocations, and these may already be slotted for a build schedule (I'm speculating).
• Contrary to popular belief, not all dealerships are scummy, but always be skeptical and get things in writing. While this isn't necessarily guaranteed it will give you negotiation powers when taking delivery. Fingers crossed I don't have to run into this.

Anybody able to get a window sticker from any of the tracking gizmos yet? When I use the one tethered to that email from Ford it always says check back later.
