I wonder how Ford estimates delivery. I'm built 22nd also in Colorado but estimated delivery is 10/23 to 10/29.

Do you know what your ship date is? seems tight to get there by 10/20 but you never know some people seem to get it right away while others wait for weeks.

I haven't followed discussions closely on rail transport. I assume Laredo is where they go through customs, so is that why there seems to be a bit "sit and wait" time there?

My understanding is it goes through customs then goes to a new train. So it has to wait depending on both of those.

I dont know the initial ship date. Can't see that anywhere in the tracking.
My original delivery window provided by the dealer right after production was 10/16 to 10/22. The chat person today told me just a specific date, but it does fall in that original range.

I dont think it will update until it gets to KC, although if you have the railcar number there might be ways to track it

that’s my hope. If it follows typical numbers and there wasn’t a delay it should update to KC around Friday.

I think the next time the tracking will update is when it hits "Internati, MO" which seems to be the rail yard where it changes trains. Looking at VVRs I've been able to find via Google search all seem to show Lecheria -> Laredo -> Internati, MO. I've also seen new rail car numbers assigned at Internati, then it goes on to Richards-Gebaur, MO where it changes over to the convoy truck.

I really wish they would make it easier to track when we're spending $60k and up! They've pretty much done away with being able to track it once it goes onto the convoy truck, too, from what I can tell. I'll try to get my sales guy to call whatever convoy carrier it ends up on since they won't talk to us lowly peons. Lol

I've found some info in other threads for tracking once it gets a non-KCS rail car number, which should happen once it hits Internati (aka KC). You'll need the new rail car number from Ford chat or your sales person. Here's what I've found so far:

Norfolk Southern automated line
1-800-635-5768
Pick option 2, then option 2 again
Enter # in 2 parts - letters, then numbers

Union Pacific automated line
1-800-877-5123
Follow prompts for trace
Say rail car number (all together, no spacing of letters/numbers)

Haven't tested these yet since mine is still with KCS, rail car 008306, but hoping to be at Internati soon since mine was shipped on 9/28. Mine hit Laredo on 10/3, for reference.

If you know someone who can track rail cars, it is possible to track it every time it passes an AEI scanner on the railroad, usually located around major terminals. When I ordered my F150 a decade ago I knew someone in the intermodal business who has access to such a system. He added the car into his system at work and would email me updates daily. Unfortunately I don't have such a resource this time.

I used chat yesterday and mine was in Laredo as of the 1st. They weren't able to give me any rail car info though.

@Donnieboy I didn't get that email, but I don't expect to since I'm not the original person that placed the order. I consider myself lucky to actually be able to see anything on the Ford tracking site at all even though it's pretty useless. For example, it says "shipped" but there's no date under the word in the Domino's pizza tracker rip-off and I don't have the estimated delivery window on the tracking page that others do, either. At least my sales guy knows I'm getting limited info from the site and has been texting me every morning with a picture of his computer screen showing the VVR. At least I was able to add the VIN in the FordPass app since I am a previous Ford owner and have it show up under vehicles. I have the "activate vehicle" button there, but know not to use it until I'm picking up the car at the dealership.
