Or it could be simply that they can; its a dealership and he was curious.

Don't have to read nefarious reasons into everything.

Just some cursory thought would seem to negate this possibility: Cars were getting parked everywhere for the additional inspections but were not being sent to dealerships or back to the plant or nearby plants (the only places with a lift). In addition the use of a lift would imply that the inspection/fix takes a bit of time; the indications in the forums that cars are moving again implies it is a relatively fast process.

Probably so he could get a better angle and lighting to show the undercarriage of the vehicle for this video. I was curious to see what it looked like, and he probably was as well and realized he'd be the only review/video showing this part of the car.

It's pretty hard to tell in the video, but it looks like they might have it on the lift with the support arms on the edge of the battery!? Are those the jack points? That can't be.
Or maybe it's on the edge of the frame. I can't tell.

I have not rustproofed any recent vehicle I owned, post 2008. This includes GM, Volvo and Lexus. No signs of rust.

Seems to be just outside of the battery... I hope there enough room to lift it at home to do the summer to winter tire changes with the floor jack

Me neither... But none of my cars had batteries underneath....

but how much time you owned them? I will definitely do a rustproofing on mine.
