I still love my car. Every time I get on a highway with my wife, I hit blue cruise and just sit back and think about how I have the best car. The only reason I'd get rid of it now is if Ford used a higher capacity battery on future models. I could spend hours just going over how nice it is, but there are a few things I'd change about it if I could, so here my personal nit-picks after a year of ownership, in no particular order, and these are just opinions. I am no more or less evil than you for not liking something you like.

  • I know I said this is in no particular order, but chief complaint is here: The delays in the touch screen controls. I press the fan button and I have to wait for a half-to-a-full second before I can adjust it. I know, a half second seems small, but that's a half second with my eyes off the road. Same goes for literally all controls on the infotainment screen. I wish it was more responsive.
  • The panoramic sunroof. I know that the latest models have the ability to get a solid roof, I wish that were an option when I bought. After months of making sure I had a ball cap in the car, I bought a cover. It's likely never coming off.
  • The forward parking sensors give up too easy when pulling into tight spots. Normally when I park (Northern Virginia has infamously small parking spaces), the sensor assumes it's blocked about half way in and I have to tap on the camera button to bring it back up.
  • Speaking of the camera button, it'd be super nice to be able to switch to the rear view while parked.
  • There's a strange spot on the Dulles toll road, right as you pass under the foot bridge leading to the Reston Metro station. Every time I pass under that bridge going eastbound, Blue Cruise shuts off. At first, I assumed the pavement markings were poor, but then they repaved it and it still happens, regardless of the lane I am in. The only thing I can even guess at is some kind of unshielded power line for the metro system is throwing out enough interference.
  • I don't like that the cabin heating is FULL BLAST or none at all with remote start. It's all computer controlled, so why not be able to have a front seat that doesn't sizzle so much when I get in?
  • Sentry mode or at least dash cam video. There's cameras everywhere, it would be pretty darn cool to be able to download the stuff they capture for insurance purposes.
  • I don't want Alexa in my car. I never did. I never activated it, and I never will. I'd like to remove it altogether, but not using it will have to do.

Yeah, that's all I can think of right now. Like I said, this is still the best car I've ever had, and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. Nothing is ever 100% perfect for everyone, so all of us have to put up with minor annoyances, that's life. I also completely understand if you disagree with me - my opinions don't make me a bad person, agree, disagree, love, hate, just please keep it civil when you comment. Also I don't know what you know. What's obvious to you may be esoteric to me and vice-versa. If there's something I'm not doing to address what's misconfigured, I would love to hear about it!

I completely agree with how you feel about your Mach E. I too feel this is the best car I’ve ever owned. I've owned the Mach E Premium (Standard Range) for exactly 1 year and 10K as well and love all its amenities and performance. I have very few complaints about my car, it's amazing how opinions and priorities vary from owner to owner... So here is my short list of minor complaints/future requests:
  • Physical button to open hatch- there is a physical handle to open the frunk, but the hatch doesn't have a button??? I find this an annoyance and wish it did or had the kick to open feature, which was removed from the 2023 Premium models. But I've learned to live with it.
  • Blue Cruise works well except when it doesn't- I'm sure everyone agrees here. There is a lot of room for improvement, but I knew this going into the purchase of my vehicle. Blue Cruise needs to be a little smarter when it comes to speed limit changes. I find the system slows the car down too quickly when speed limits change and several times this has been dangerous. I don't rely on the product, it's basically a gimmick I wouldn't pay for if it were not included for 3 years.
  • Lighting in the glovebox and center console. At night the glovebox is useless without a flashlight (so I keep one in there). The center console storage area can be seen with overhead lighting, but Ford should install lighting for both locations.
  • Range- I have anxiety. I rarely charge past 90% and in the fall/winter the charge hovers around 200 miles of range. I just wish it had little more (300 miles). I didn't think range anxiety was going to be an issue until I realized the charging network is unreliable (not Fords fault). I've only charge my car at a DC fast charging station once, and it was a great experience. However, the 2nd time I tried to charge my car there it wasn't working. Apparently this is very common. I'm from Atlanta and drove to Athens, GA (appx. 70 miles). I am able to go back and forth on a single charge without a problem, but I get nervous when the range is less than 50 miles (that's my personal issue).
  • No dog mode- Not that I want to leave my dog in the car, but if Tesla can do it, why can't Ford?
The rest of the issues mentioned above have not been a problem for me. I haven't experienced any lag in the software, nor parking sensor issues. The Alexa thing doesn't bother me, I've never noticed it. Sentry mode would be a nice to have, but I never really thought about it.

As I mentioned, I live in Atlanta, GA and I love my panoramic roof, even when it's 90+ degrees, the UV protection has been good enough. This is the 1st car I've ever owned without a sunroof. I miss opening a my roof so I'll settle for the full pano glass.

I'm sure there will be other issues people will bring up, but for the most part, I love my Mach E and would definitely buy it again.

I agree with pretty much all of the points listed in the original post. Touchscreen delays in a vehicle where almost all controls are touchscreen-based shouldn't be acceptable. Fan controls, temperature controls, and for me, turning one-pedal driving on and off (I use it exclusively for traffic) are things where I have gotten used to the delays but wish that they weren't there. Parking sensors giving the "blocked" message while you're still edging into a spot is something I just got used to, but agree it'd be more ideal if it didn't happen.

I suppose one thing I might add would be the windshield wiper controls. If you have it set to auto, you need to toggle it down to off and then down one more time to trigger a swipe. A work-around I've come to is flipping the switch up to the heaviest setting (and if you're already on it, flip it one down and then one back up). It wasn't overly intuitive to find that one out, though.

Maybe another would be the paint. It pains me every time I find a paint chip. I can't recall having any other vehicle where paint chips were present in areas where I didn't recall scraping or bumping up against something. To be fair, up until the Mach-E I didn't really spend much time admiring my vehicles, so maybe those problems were there and I just never noticed them... but I know I'm not the only one with Grabber Blue remarking on paint chips. (And speaking of paint, bring on the fun color options! I am envious of the colors Toyota is offering on their vehicles. When will the Mach-E get the options for racing stripes like the other Mustangs have?)

One point of disagreement is the panoramic glass roof. I was most excited for this feature, and it has not disappointed. Even in sunny Hawaii there are no issues with it heating up the vehicle. If anything, my kids complained that it was tinted so heavily that they couldn't see as easily out of it, but they were comparing it with our Chrysler Pacifica - which has mild tinting such that I do feel the heat through it, and need to close the automated, built-in cover when the sun is higher in the sky.

I hit 10K miles a bit over a year into ownership. Still love driving the car, still turn back to admire it after parking. No regrets about buying it, it is the best vehicle I have owned.

I appreciate this post. I bought my 2022 GT PE as a used dealer demo with 850 miles 3 months ago and just love the car.

My main nit pick is the lack of an auto tilting right mirror when parking the car.

None the less I’m super happy with my purchase.

Cheers.

Ok I love this car too! Lovely. My nit picks:

* why can't I get OTAs???? I want Charge Assist and the ability to use the big volume knob to adjust the van. It would be nice to be able to get OTAs or at least have some confirmation that the 6.x.x OTAs will eventually show up.
* why when I get in with my phone and my key it loads the wrong profile and puts my seat in the wrong spot, as if my wife was driving.
* why sometimes wireless carplay disconnects, repeatedly?

Really appreciate the posts. Only have had the car for a month and loving it and glad the hear that feeling has a good chance to last! Have to agree a sentry mode would be nice. For a while I was deciding between a Tesla Y and the Mach-E and some the tech features of the Tesla almost made me go that direction. I am curious about how the open roof will work — too much sun/heat or not. Not a problem now in Michigan — no sun.
