Is it necessary to purchase an aftermarket charger like the Grizzl E or will the Ford supplied charge cable be ok for regular use? I have installed the NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage.

Some will say the one that comes with the car is fine, others will tell you it craps out after a while (usually months) there's a thread on that here.

I installed one and keep the one that came with the car as a backup when traveling.
My feelings as well. I wanted to install a charger by a company that is all they do. I keep the Ford one in car as a backup

I’m using the Ford charger on 120v, until I get my Grizzle E with Nema 14-50 plug. Then my Ford charger will stay in the car.

We've used the OEM 240v chargers on our Volt (6 years) and MY (14 mo) w/o any issues.

I think for most folks the issue is that the supplied OE charging cable that comes with MEE is limited to 30 amps. If you install a 14-50 outlet off a 50 amp breaker, you would be capable of charging at 40 amps for a quicker charge . . . but would need a more robust charging cable than what Ford supplies.

Question for you. Do you like throwing away free money?

Since you live in SE Michigan, DTE and Consumers Energy will pay you $500 to install a charger. Used to restrict to brand/model, now DTE doesn't.

So, if you see a nice, intelligent charger like the JuiceBox, and it's say $625 plus tax, it's now $125 plus tax.

You can find each rebate via Google.

Thanks Matt, I had the amber light come on a few times and I'm concerned about having the Ford cable as my primary. I decided to buy the GrizzlE so the Ford supplied cable will stay in the car for backup.
