Dash Cam

What type of Dash Cam did you install

(Front view,

front and rear view or

front and rear and cab view)?

What brand and model did you install?

What was the cost?

Do you still like it or wish you got something else?

Did you install it yourself or have someone else install it? (How much was it to install)

Anything else you wish it did?

Looking for a dash cam that works for front, rear and interior. Any suggestions. If not at least one that does front and back.

I have a Thinkware F200 Pro (front/rear cams) with a battery for parking mode and really like it so far. Thinkware and Blackvue are the ones to go with for dual channel. I have the Garmin mini installed in my truck and it's good for what it is.

Personally, I would avoid the chinese brands.

BlackVue with Battery Pack.
Because 90kw of battery isn't enough ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have a Blackvue LTE front and rear camera and there's absolutely no reason to spend that much money ($350) on a battery pack when you have an EV. If the camera gets the LVB too low the DC/DC inverter will kick on and top the LVB back up. For my setup it takes about 3 days of the camera running without a charge or driving to trigger the inverter. Unless it's parked at an airport while I'm gone, it never happens.

The Ring dash cam is an easy install. It has the front and rear camera in one slim unit, If you have other devices and the Ring app you can access the dash cam like the doorbell, motion camera , etc.

And as an added benefit, you can count on Ring to hand over any video, without consent, to law enforcement. 🤦‍♂️

I didn't think the inverter kicked in if the car isn't plugged into charger. Also cigarette socket only stays active around 10 mins before turning off.

DC/DC will kick in unplugged as long as the HVB is over 12% SOC.

I have mine hard wired to an always on circuit so that it can provide "sentry" type alerting hence the LTE version.

Yeah, they should be like Volkswagen and refuse to assist the police even though a child's life could be in danger.

I made the cognizant decision to use a standalone battery (knowing the HVB will top off the LVB) because I've had enough 12v issues in the past.

The $200 was money well spent to avoid vehicle deep sleep / low voltage gremlins, or a car with a dead battery.

This past experience was with ICE cars?
