Ford gave you your VIN? And you hadn’t received the email from Ford that others received telling you that it was “in production” (I believe that’s the term used in those emails)? Cool! Maybe I should call Ford! ?
I had ordered and reserved directly with the dealer (no internet) so I thought I was missing out on info......when I called big ford the woman said I would get the email soon with production info after she gave me my VIN#.....dealer said week of Dec 14, but he was somewhat optimistic about a 2020 delivery.....one can only hope, haha

Not possible. You can hope all you want. You'll see.

I'll disagree. I think it is possible.
Highly unlikely? Sure.
Snowball's chance in hell? Maybe better than that.
My build date is 12/14 and I'm not counting on seeing it in 2020, but I can always hope :) ?

I think it was earlier this week where I posted some information about the scheduling process as best as I understand it. It is based on information from 3 or 4 different sources including this forum.

In there I talk about priority codes and when they apply and when they dont. I also mention OTHER production concerns which has an effect on the schedule.

The scenario you describe is possible....a perfect storm of situations would need to occur but a clever dealer could have ordered you a car prior to mid month and get a build date later this year. Of course I dont know if that is what happened in your case but it isnt totally impossible. It sounds to me like your dealer is one of the clever ones. If I had to guess, your order is not a retail order but that is just a guess.

If I am to believe what I have been told. The build date for my First Edition is very very end of MP1. Pretty much right before MP2 starts up. However, I did hear rumor that some MP1 vehicles spilled over to MP2 ....if so, then my car would likely have been in that group. Unless my car wasnt affected by whatever caused the spill over in the first place.
@Illinibird certainly has a great dealer to have pulled this off if accurate. I don’t think anyone else who said they ordered the car months after the reveal has said they have a 2020 build date? That dealer deserves every (minimal, because it’s a BEV) future service dollar to come from that particular Mach E!

I'm thinking it's six weeks from the start of the build week. Has anyone affiliated with Ford given us an estimate? It's highly variable but should be possible based on past experience to say N weeks +/- (yes mostly +) 2 weeks.

My build date is 12/14
Is that a build date or a build week? If it's the build week it likely won't be finished until until the end of the week.

Just curious if you have a SWAG about how long it takes from the start of build week to when the car is delivered to the dealer. I realize the estimate has a high level of uncertainty since there are so many variables (my guess based on limited past experience is six weeks from the start of build week), but a guesstimate would be interesting.

Thanks for that! I was able to get my VIN!
So I gave it a shot and called the number. Very nice and determined lady, but after over an hour of research on her part, all she could come up with was “your order is still in processing and we don’t have a VIN for you yet.”

Oh well.

The dealer is not my “select” dealer as he’s 18 miles away (my select dealer is within walking distance (10 minutes) but would not accept my Ford X-Plan).

My select dealer gets 5 stars for service and I’ve gone there over 18 years. The work and treatment of customers is excellent. The dealer 18 miles away whom I ordered from only gets 3 stars so most likely I’ll stick with the dealer I’m familiar with for this car too.

Interesting, did the far away dealer botch some other part of the order process or is that from prior past experience unrelated to the Mach E that you rate them at 3 stars?

I don't have any idea really. That is something that I never was able to figure out any rhyme or reason to. I think maybe Ford contracts with a third party vendor to handle the transportation of vehicles. ??

I have a suspicion that, based on the process description given in the other forum, we will only see emails on Thursday afternoons. That’s just my guess tho.

Thanks for trying. It is highly variable. The rail system can be crazy. It's like buying a ticket from LA to Brazil and you end up first going to Chicago where you have a day layover.

I would be surprised if Ford didn't contract for delivery.
