AM Radio on a ‘23 MY GT

After the 6.8 and 6.13 updates when I start the radio app the lowest number AM station shows up.

However only FM and Sirius are choices up top!

Because of this, the only way to get to AM on a consistent basis is to scan to a station you desire and then make it a preset. In theory these aren’t going away anymore.

Once you choose an AM preset, AM is selected and you can scan or direct enter a station number as desired.

Looks like the software isn’t quite finished.

Interesting so AM actually works on your ‘23? I enabled mine in FORScan but I’m pretty sure my car is missing the actual module.

If yours has the module then it’s a simple parameter to change in FORScan and you’ll be able to use it normally.

Now that you mention it our pirates are on AM but the station has a FM station also. 1020 am and 100.1 FM. Interesting.

November ‘22 GTPE, Yandu. AM sounds like an old school oscilloscope when the blinkers are used and I have on our local clear channel 1200 AM. I fixed the interference with a manual filter. Me. I stopped using the blinkers.

No issues with the June ‘22 Platinum Lightning other than static on every AM channel when running parallel to overhead powerlines.

I don’t know what the fuss is all about.

If the cars came with lifetime SiriusXM I would not care. But dealing with the SiriusXM call centers is so profoundly disturbing that I will never do that again. Thus AM is fine for local sports that are not on FM.

In my area in CT the AM stations have stronger signal range then FM. Yes, used for listening to sports here also.

I recently found SiriusXM ok to deal with on the phone. We cancelled service on one car and downgraded service on the MME. Offers flew but I just said no,no,no,no,no. They did what I wanted.

AM radio quality is not a unique problem to the MME. I had miserable reception on my 2017 Fusion Energi as well. I solved the problem by using the TuneIn radio app installed on my phone. It is easy to set favorites then you can quickly select the desired station via Carplay (assume it works as well on Android phones).

Back when we first moved out here KGO was stil a real radio station and had the 49er games. Listening to them on an atmospheric skip was a hoot. Then the internet happened and that all became unnecessary. So no am radio needed for me any longer.
