Hello @MachEForum,

We were cheated by Dana Ford in Staten Island, New York. After placing an online order, we went to confirm our Select model with technology package in Infinite Blue color and left the dealership with a cash deposit of $5000 (Biggest Mistake).

The salesperson, Huijian Yu didn't place the order in time and when we went the next week, the dealership said they cannot place the order for the Select and that we buy a Premium AWD instead. It was out of our budget but we agreed to buy the vehicle and since the dealership didn't place our select order in time, the General Manager, Doug agreed to sell us the car at $50000.

We received a buyer's order with a total price of $50000.(attached)

On delivery day, the dealership said we have to pay $51200 instead because they cannot honor the price we agreed on earlier. I know this is the current MSRP of the car but they agreed on $50k and are backing out now.

We asked for a refund since our original agreement wasn't met, and the dealership isn't responding anymore. The salesperson, Huijian Yu who dropped us home on Friday and today, he is saying he doesn't work at the dealership anymore!

We have written communication and recorded phone calls with the dealership about the agreement.

We loved the car but would not want to do business with such a dealership, any suggestions on what we can do?

I've read multiple threads on this forum that have mentioned Ford North America Product Communications Director Mike Levine as someone who will stand up for MME customers that are being squeezed by dealerships with markups and other issues. His Twitter handle is @mrlevine

I am also in the market for a MME and have been told by local dealers that they are marking them up as much as $15k. It is out of control.

Good luck!

That is a contract!

How did we get to $50,000? I see $52,000 and I also see an $2000 “rebate (if applicable)”. What is this rebate?

Here in California we are seeing $5K to $10K over MSRP on declined orders.... It's getting crazy out there.

At the time dealer told me, that's including the x-plan and some other incentives.

I see you're in Arlington. What dealership did you work with for your MME? I am trying to find the best option here in NoVA.

Thanks

When I was shopping a few months ago, Dana Ford had a MME I wanted. Even then they were playing the markup game. So I quickly dropped them from my list. Sorry you got caught trusting them. Claiming they couldn’t order a select should have been the first warning. If they couldn’t order one, it wouldn’t be available to order online.

That was the first thing that jumped out at me when I read the OP, but I think I understand.

The key is the color he wanted - "Infinite Blue". That color was discontinued a couple months back. So, if he had placed the order sometime prior to but near that time, and dealership did not accept order in a timely fashion, they may have missed the window.

Unfortunately, in cases like this where the dealership tries to make it right by moving the customer into another vehicle, that also perhaps makes it easier for them to back out or change terms later because from Ford's perspective the vehicle being sold is not the one that was originally associated with the buyer and their online reservation.

Wow, that was not my experience with Koons. Maybe that was the case when you ordered/bought your MME. That was the first place we went to three weeks ago for our test drive and discussion of purchasing. The test drive with the product specialist went well, but when the sales manager sat down with us he told us point-blank that there was a $15k markup on all MME orders. I politely told him to pound sand.

Other dealers in the area have been better, but I have seen markups from $5k to $15k.

Our car was totaled a month ago by a distracted driver and we really didn't want to be in this situation in this market right now. Unfortunately, we need a second vehicle sooner rather than later and can't wait the 24+ weeks for a custom order.

Honestly, you probably aren't going to get a dealership to come off of MSRP at this point. If you just don't want to do business with these guys there are plenty of dealers in the NYC area with Mach E in stock or incoming - most all are right around the $50K price point that you are looking for.

Thanks but they are not even refunding our 5k deposit! ☹

Go in person on a Saturday and demand to speak to the manager...repeat your story over and over so other customers can hear...the manager will quickly come and assist you.
