Wow, that was not my experience with Koons. Maybe that was the case when you ordered/bought your MME. That was the first place we went to three weeks ago for our test drive and discussion of purchasing. The test drive with the product specialist went well, but when the sales manager sat down with us he told us point-blank that there was a $15k markup on all MME orders. I politely told him to pound sand.

Other dealers in the area have been better, but I have seen markups from $5k to $15k.

Our car was totaled a month ago by a distracted driver and we really didn't want to be in this situation in this market right now. Unfortunately, we need a second vehicle sooner rather than later and can't wait the 24+ weeks for a custom order.

I ordered mine. I had intended to go to another dealer, but Koons snatched my order. I was big mad, but they ended up being great. I got X-Plan off MSRP. I think at the time, they had delivered less than 10, all orders.

Now that they have their own orders for sale, yes, they can sell them for whatever they want. But if you were in position to order one online, I found their process easy.

Sorry about the situation you’re in. That sucks. Buy a jalopy for riding around until a special order is built?

Go in person on a Saturday and demand to speak to the manager...repeat your story over and over so other customers can hear...the manager will quickly come and assist you.
This is a great idea, thanks!

Floated that idea to the wife but she doesn't want to buy a bridge car until a new order comes in from Ford. Not to mention, the used car market is crazy now too. Thanks COVID! ;)

Hello @MachEForum,

We were cheated by Dana Ford in Staten Island, New York. After placing an online order, we went to confirm our Select model with technology package in Infinite Blue color and left the dealership with a cash deposit of $5000 (Biggest Mistake).

The salesperson, Huijian Yu didn't place the order in time and when we went the next week, the dealership said they cannot place the order for the Select and that we buy a Premium AWD instead. It was out of our budget but we agreed to buy the vehicle and since the dealership didn't place our select order in time, the General Manager, Doug agreed to sell us the car at $50000.

We received a buyer's order with a total price of $50000.(attached)

On delivery day, the dealership said we have to pay $51200 instead because they cannot honor the price we agreed on earlier. I know this is the current MSRP of the car but they agreed on $50k and are backing out now.

We asked for a refund since our original agreement wasn't met, and the dealership isn't responding anymore. The salesperson, Huijian Yu who dropped us home on Friday and today, he is saying he doesn't work at the dealership anymore!

We have written communication and recorded phone calls with the dealership about the agreement.

We loved the car but would not want to do business with such a dealership, any suggestions on what we can do?

This kind of practice must be why I just saw a Tweet from Dana Ford that they had 53 MMEs in stock right now.

Thanks but they are not even refunding our 5k deposit! ☹
That I would fight. And it shouldn’t take much of a fight. In New York State, unless the deposit is specified as “non refundable” right up front, then they have to refund it. A simple call to the Attorney General’s Office and you’ll have the power of the state of NY on your side. I’m originally from elsewhere and there are a lot of things I don’t like about New York… but they are very pro worker and pro consumer.

Better yet, simply show them the law and explain how you’re perfectly willing to involve the Attorney General’s Office. The law found Here makes this VERY clear.

Honestly, you probably aren't going to get a dealership to come off of MSRP at this point. If you just don't want to do business with these guys there are plenty of dealers in the NYC area with Mach E in stock or incoming - most all are right around the $50K price point that you are looking for.
Just get it MSRP @ Fullerton Ford.

Just make sure you are presented with ford options, I wasn't after they made me wait 2.5 hours. Kind of pissed.

This is amazing, thanks!
You’re welcome. I was paranoid I wouldn’t get my deposit back after I found one on a lot and needed to cancel my dealer order. So I went armed with info when I asked for my deposit back. Luckily I didn’t need it. Sounds like you do. I’m happy to help. ?

If they don’t refund your $5K deposit then take them to court. Small claims should work. They can’t just hold on to your money when they haven’t provided you with a product or service. Once they’ve been served, they’ll know you mean business and they’ll cut that refund check quickly.

Small claims court to get your $5k back.

Thank you, will find a way to file a case in Staten Island tomorrow!

A few years ago, I had to take a residential community to small claims court in order to get back a ‘non-refundable’ deposit (long story). After they got served, we never actually went to court. We settled and they gave me back my full deposit, along with a reimbursement of all my court fees. I demanded the fees because I tried my best to resolve the dispute amicably, but they were jerks- so they got served.
