Any way to turn off the main screen?

I would love to be able to get in the car, change any settings I need to, and then turn the screen off. I admit to being a total luddite and that huge screen just looks like a distraction to me. I wish it was half that size. I know you change to the darker background, but is it possible to turn it off, or do I need to get a matte black screen protector.

There is a calm screen mode that changes to just a simple clock (I think). Can post how to in a few mins.

1. Select the car icon in upper left
2. Select Settings sub-menu (upper part of screen)
3. Select Display in left hand panel (may have to scroll down)
4. Select Calm Screen

Not sure if there is a way to create a shortcut to that screen...

It should be an always-present icon at the top of the screen. There should also be an always-present zoom in and zoom out button on the map. IMHO.

Frequently used options become cards in the middle row on the screen. Calm may appear there after you use it several times.

But don’t those cards just keep getting displaced by the most recent items? That was one of my feedback items with my Ford tour guide - that I should be able to make permanent cards instead of them being ever-variable.

Maybe. I haven't quite figured out the sequencing on those cards.

I've found you don't need to use pinch to zoom, you can double-tap with a single finger to zoom on, or a single tap with two fingers (like the 3 Stooges eye poke) to zoom back out. SO much easier than trying to pinch in/out to zoom.

I was hoping that would happen but I've used the Calm Screen many times and it does not appear as one of the cards.
I've used the online manual maybe 3 times and its card is always present.
Hoping an OTA will add the functionality, fingers crossed.

it seems like a lot of the OTA feature requests are some form of "quicker access to something" where different people have different answers for what. folks have suggested buttons at the top, buttons at the side... it would be nice to have some kind of customization for sure. it seems Ford thought "if we magically learn you won't need it" but I do wonder if that time would have been better spent on just letting us make choices... easy for me to say though, I'm not in Marketing

They're actually the same gestures as on Google Maps and Apple Maps. Everyone knows the double-tap, but seems like no-one knows about the "two-finger-poke."
