The first thing I do when I get going in the car is check the OTA screen to see if there
Is an update. Far too much compared to it’s importance in the grand scale of things.
Am I the only one obsessed with the OTA and immediately checking it every journey?

I’m more the opposite. I never check to see if there’s been an update, then I notice that something’s different and I’m like “damned, why didn’t I pay attention to updates!”

I honestly only check if I notice it here first, which is why the majority of Mach E owners will not care so much about software updates and timeliness. Unless they’re on this forum they’ll have no idea they waited an extra month for the latest PowerUp!

I usually check when I am getting out of the car, hoping it did an update while driving around.

That way I am not disappointed while driving!!!!

"Expected fix by the end of February" - T-Minus 9 days, 4 hours, 13 min, and 15 seconds

Not that I am watching it all that closely......

Don't check in the car, check via online methods sitting at a computer (e.g. scraping owner.ford.com JSON calls).

Jim - I was told a "fix" soon which turns out to be a cursed reply. Days come and go (many months now) without any progress. Now the majority of owners are in the 2.5 startup updates while those of us affected just sit with the car stuck at 1.6. If there is not a resolution by March 1st I feel like those affected will need to stick together and weigh our options. The car was sold to us with the promise of OTA updates and Ford cannot deliver up to this point. I think the team trying to concoct a software or firmware remedy need to accept defeat and have Ford issue a TSB so that our APIM modules (and whatever other module is responsible for this) are replaced. I would imagine these replacement modules have firmware and/or software that works and this would solve our problem. It costs more but the other solutions just don't seem to work and we have had enough with waiting. Ford did it for the windshields and panoramic roofs so they should do the same for those of us affected by this issue whether it be a TSB or recall. And no, I don't check for updates anymore knowing full well that my car won't do it.

I have never done that. Usually when an OTA is ready then I see an icon on the home screen with a down arrow. Then when completed there's a check mark next to it.

Do you not get those icons there in UK?

Several questions are going unanswered:

1. How many vehicles are having this problem? It is both the Mach-E and the F-150 vehicles that are affected. If it is only a few hundred, I agree with you. Ford should just bite the bullet and make early adopters happy about being first in line to purchase their signature electric vehicle and best selling truck! If it is many thousands, then Ford should be working 24/7 to get this fixed, if they believe it can truly be fixed via software. My problem with this approach is that what happens in a year or two down the road when it happens again? Will these still be replaced under warranty?

2. Why do some/most APIMS work properly while others do not? If it is hardware causing the problems, why doesn't Ford demand the supplier of the APIM replace those units at their expense? If it is a software loading problem, why can't a complete reload of the software for that module at the dealership resolve the issue?

3. If there was a problem testing the "fix" - working for some units, but bricking others, then that seems to indicate that there may be several different hardware versions of the APIM in the field. How could quality control inspections have allowed this to happen?

You seem to be concerned that there may be other modules involved as well. I am not so sure about that as in all cases, is the the update of the APIM that fails. I have not read or heard about any other modules not loading properly. But we should be informed completely of what exactly is wrong with our cars.

It has been over three months now since this problem was reported. A correction is long overdue. The letter I was given from the dealership when the last attempt failed is attached to this post. There is no ambiguity in this letter. It says that if the problem has not been corrected by the end of February, 2022 to contact the dealership again. I plan to do that the first week of March to see if they will agree to condemn the APIM in my car and have it replaced.

It is just the waiting game with no information from Ford that is so disappointing. Without really knowing what the problem really is, it is all conjecture. If they will tell us exactly what is wrong, what is being done to correct it, how the fix will be applied, and when that correction will be done, I can live with it. But expecting us to just sit around and wait an unknown amount of time is just not going to cut it.

Thanks for the letter Jim. I will print this out. What does car GW CX72N C-EV mean? Is that code for our Mach E's?

I checked the JSON last night, Carr when I started driving today, two trips later it appeared.
