I just had the 10,000 mile service performed at Ford dealer. Only thing they charged for was tire rotation, the other stuff was included free as part of their inspection.

Had the 10,000 mile (for me really the 1 year as have 8,700 miles) maintenance done last week and they forgot to rotate the tires so I took it in yesterday for that. The charge for the 10,000 mile maintenance (for both service appointments) was $0 which really surprised me as I thought it would be $29.95 for the tire rotation.

So I got it back (it took a little bit longer due to dent repair) but the 10,000 mile service ended up costing me $21. The way the dealer wrote it up was that charge was for the tire rotation and the multi point inspection was complimentary. They didnā€™t have a code for this service yet in their system (like how ā€œThe Worksā€ is for other vehicles). Ready to put another 10k on it!!!
Did you use Ford Pass Points to pay? I've done that for oil change on our F150.

my dealer wants to charge $65 for the 10,000 service, which really is tire rotation and looking at a few things, but not doing anything about it. If i have a tire shop rotate the tires for $20 does that void the warranty since they have not checked things?
Use some of your Ford Pass Points. We all got at least 48k when we purchased.

I booked an appointment with my dealer for tomorrow to have my 16,000km service. The lady on the phone admittedly wasn't familiar with the typical services performed during EV maintenance and the 16,000km service but mentioned things like tire rotation, multi-point inspection, checking and topping up brake and cooling fluids.

I'm just concerned that my dealership will try to charge a crazy amount for this service, so I wanted to ask about other Canadian's experience in getting their Mach-E serviced and what they paid.

From what I could find on the Ford maintenance website, this is what should be done.

  • Rotate the tires, inspect tire wear and measure tread depth. (I just had my tires changed from winter to all-season a month ago, I don't think I need to have them do this, right?)
  • Inspect engine cooling system and motor/electronics cooling system strength and hoses.
  • Inspect half-shaft boots.
  • Inspect steering linkage, ball joints, suspension, tie-rod ends, drive shaft and U-joints. Lubricate if equipped with grease fittings.
  • Inspect the wheels and related components for abnormal noise, wear, looseness or drag.
  • Inspect tires and check tire pressures.
  • Perform multi-point inspection.
  • Inspect brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, brake linings, hoses and parking brake.

Does anyone/everyone get the Premium care package or just depend on the normal warranty? I do not own yet, still waiting for it to be built.

I just purchased the extended warranty from zeigler Ford, which is accepted at all Ford dealerships. It cost $1200 for 5 year extension to 8 years or 100,000 miles. It has a $200 deductible and includes lost or damaged fob and all exterior and interior lighting. My dealership wanted $3,800 for the same coverage and would not negotiate. I think it is reasonable because if the info screen goes out that is $3000 to replace. You can also use your ford points to decrease the cost. If you wait longer than a year after purchase the price increases $100. Hopefully a waste of money, but it is transferable to a new owner if I sell the car.

I usually purchase an extended warranty on my last several cars and have used it twice. The cost of the repair(s) was more than the cost of the plan so you are correct. The Mach E is a computer on wheels so anything that goes out after the initial 3 year warranty would be a huge expense. The peace of mind is worth it to me. And the HV battery not being covered is a non-issue as Ford backs it for 8 years/100,000 miles. I paid about the same thing you did (mine purchased from Lombard Ford) for a 7 year/100,000 mile $100 deductible plan (bought extended warranty from them for my 2016 Fusion too). I never purchase extended warranties for other things though (except for Apple Care for my iMac, iPad and iPhone).

When I had mine done they first wanted to know if I was there for an oil change. Once I informed them that I had no oil to change, they asked why I was there then... My confidence level in them dropped quickly.

I thought it was expensive for a tire rotation

These do sound like worthwhile plans. Iā€™ve been offered an extended service plan (got a lecture on it not being a warranty, an industry misnomer apparently) for $1971 and it looks like it is comprehensive for 6 years from purchase. I am considering because of all the electronics. Usually I donā€™t do extended warranties, but that big screen has me worried. Am I understanding this contract correctly? Is it worth the cost?

They are also offering a maintenance plan for $750, that can be cancelled for up to 30 days after signing.

Thanks,
Elle

Run, run as fast as you can. Never take a 3rd party warranty. If you are determined to buy an extended warranty, get the Ford extended warranty from Granger, Zeigler, Flood,... Offering you a maintenance plan on an EV (different from warranty plan) means they see a ripe target in their sights, you. You should feel insulted.

I brought my car for 10K miles scheduled service maintenance and I complained about the "12V Battery Fault-Service Soon". in addition I told them I had the tires balanced and rotated by the shop I regularly go to. So, when I got my vehicle back and read the service ticket it said that 10K scheduled service maintenance was performed in addition to the LVB complaint that I had lodged ... but my charge was Zero Dollars. So this make me believe that the actual service is just cursory check of fluids, any leaks and visual inspection of brake pads ... in addition to any customer complaint. Since I had the tires rotated and balanced on my own they couldn't charge me for anything.
PS: The difference in ride was noticeably better after the tire rotation and balancing. So at 10K miles interval tire service is a worthwhile investment.
