I drove by a Ford delaership over the weekend and saw what looked like 10 Mach Es lined up out front. Later I got on their web site, they have twelve 2023 models for sale right now. Seems demand is waning.

Perspective is helpful.

  • About half of MME production goes outside the US. (~3600 March production for US ~3600 elsewhere)
  • As posted above, production was ~0 for two months so there is a two month hole in in-transit inventory.
  • Getting vehicles from the plant to dealers is... abysmal.

We will see what June sales look like but you can't deliver cars you don't have.

If Ford has a problem selling Mach-Es because they are no longer the new hotness and the economy has cooled, then they just need to unlock the performance of the GTPE to get everyone excited again.

Perhaps a better way to say it: you can't sell cars stuck in transit. (See Ford announcing 13k MME made in May)

Too bad that $1.8k delivery fee isn't actually making it faster these days.

It’s low and yeah, I would bet the number sold went way down due in part to…….. Tesla price wars.

The model Y price dropped $15,000 this year and became the #1 selling car on the planet in Q1.

No doubt the most direct competitor we have selling that many “stole” some potential Mach E buyers.

Not have getting the full 7.5K tax credit is brutal, especially when Tesla is eligible for it.

Hope there's a significant increase next month

Exactly. For example, a Model Y Performance with Enhanced Autopilot is 51k after the California and Federal Full Tax Rebates. Their technology is superior and less buggy, plus there's no scummy dealerships to mess with. You can order one and complete every step of the process on your couch and have it delivered to your door.

While I don't want to be the one to bring up 5 seconds or 1/4 mile traps, I will. When you have almost every YouTube channel bashing on Ford for the last 2 years about it's abysmal performance that's of no help either.

I still have people admiringly asking me what my car is. Even walking across the lot to talk to me as I get in or out. A few people have told me the MME is on their wish list. Which I think translates to: they want one but can't afford it (or don't think they can). So yah the reduced tax credit probably isn't helping.

I think Bronco demand has peaked too.

Soon there will be incentives and discounts much like how Hyundai and Kia are offering $5000 in cash rebates (finance) and $7500 (lease).

I do think Ford is delusional if they want to sell 200K EVs per year with their current pricing structure.

Not in PA, I can't seem to find a Prem AWD ER within 50 mile radius of where I am. There seems to be Selects available though.

With the price cuts Tesla is surely selling much more MY than MME.

I’m not a car collector. I couldn’t tell you makes and models, and have no experience to back up what I’m going to say next, but…
I wonder if the Mach E is going to be a failed brand. Like the Edsel. Sure, they are doing a good job keeping up with updates, but the car is outmatched by the competition. Technology is all last years stuff, and buggy. Fast charging is slow, and outdated. 150 kilowatts? Competition is 400, or 800. My car has been very reliable, but the two dealers near me either don’t have a clue, or just don’t care. When this car starts breaking down, which everything mechanical will do eventually, taking it apart and putting it back together doesn’t seem like it’s going to be easy. Or seems like a nightmare. I could go on.

Problem is I love this car, and for a similar dollar, I’m not sure I could find a ICE that will match it. So, I’m keeping my fingers crossed, and hoping I’m wrong.

The car was dated when it came out as basically it was a new top hat on what was a different car that should have come out soon after the bolt, so there was probably only so much they could do and as newer models turn up its going to impact sales further, add in the price drops from tesla and it doesn't help.

Yet I don't think it will become the next edsel as it won't just be the mach-e that could end up in a one and done position when it comes to ford EV models, you are going have a host of Euro EV models built on the VW MEB platform that for all intents of purposes are going to end up as stop gaps that who knows what going to happen when the time comes for them to get a model refresh, then you have the US explorer that got pushed back and has now headed of in a another direction and probably won't be called explorer, while Ford now wants to add a tesla connector instead of CCS to current models. It all comes across as Ford just throwing stuff at the wall in the EV space trying to see what sticks :(.

As long as you enjoy your vehicle that is all that matters, EVs are not exactly complex so you won't have to worry about when things start breaking down and there is always going to be something better in the future and if ford are still stumbling around in the dark then there will be other manufactures that should have something you like and your mach-e should last until then without much issue (unless you have a ticking time bomb HVBJB which should be covered by warranty anyway)
