Anyone scheduled to check out the Ariya this weekend? My appointment is tomorrow afternoon. Should be interesting.

Nope. Looking forward to your report, though!
So, I don't have too much to report. The format of the event was interesting. They had a couple of enclosed tents setup in the back parking lot of WHP Casino, one for registration, one with a static Ariya, and a closed test course there. The Nissan rep drove one lap, then I drove two laps around the course. The course was setup for a WOT from a stop, slalom, lane change, evasive maneuver, and some "rumble strips" to demo suspension performance. Following that the rep took us out on I-10 to demo Pro Pilot 2.0, which is their version of BlueCruise. One thing they did not do was a features and benefits presentation or walkaround of the car. Maybe they didn't want to give a sales event vibe??
  • The acceleration from a stop was markedly slower than the MME.
  • The handling was decent but it has a different driving dynamic due to FWD vs the RWD MME that I am now quite used to.
  • The suspension was definitely more compliant over the rumble strips. I feel harsh bumps like that much more in my MME.
  • The hands free Pro Pilot 2.0 was cool. They use an IR camera setup like the MME to make sure the driver is paying attention. After about 5 seconds of looking away it gives a warning. It also has a steering torque sensor for standard LC mode. I can't say how it compares to BC as I have not yet received the SW.
Overall it was a positive experience and a nice car. It doesn't feel as sporty as an MME, but that isn't what they are going for.

How’s lane centering when hands free on the highway?

This would be the #1 difference for my tastes. A definite plus.

It worked very well. Granted we only drove about 4-5 miles and they knew it worked well on that section of freeway. Interestingly, they use blue as their hands free indicator color also. Anyone know if GM's SuperCruise does also?? 🤔

Trying to sign up for a Ride and Drive near me (I have an Ariya reservation but at this point have zero interest in buying one) in late July. How did you get an invite?

The suspension has to be Ioniq 5 + ID.4 level for me to consider it - along with 1PD/regen being perfectly smooth.
