I took my Mach E in for service...when the car was outside and it is cold (this is California, so 45 or below), the computer goes crazy...the Blind Spot Detection with Cross Traffic, the Park Aid, and the Pre-Collision Assist, along with the camera when in reverse, would not work; the dash board goes crazy to tell you this, and you get alerts on the FordPass. (The car is parked in a garage, but sometimes I work until 11PM, and I do go to a swim club early in the morning - when I get finished swimming, around 7AM, this happens.)

I had the car to the service department at my appointed time this morning, 7:30AM.

At 4PM a service tech called to find out what exactly I meant was happening. I explained it, and told him of all the alerts on my FordPass. He said he could see those, too.

He said this is new to him, and he'll check the car when he gets to work early tomorrow morning, but they may need the car for two more days, as it may need "parts".

Wouldn't this be a computer issue? Anyone else having the cold weather computer problems? What did your service department do? Thank you.

Sounds VERY MUCH like the 12v battery issue some of us have already encountered. In cold weather, the battery voltage can drop, and when the voltage drops enough, the software starts to glitch out and malfunction. Restoring 12V will immediately resolve it.

However, there is an underlying problem -- a problem which Ford has addressed on some other users' cars.

Some examples:

Update...Two days into this, and the service department is waiting to hear from the engineers in Dearborn. I mentioned the 12 volt battery issue, and they don't believe that is it. Their thoughts are that it is in the computer.

We wait.

So, they have ordered something for the computer. To get to the part of the computer they needed to check, they had to take the trunk apart (so they tell me). Any way, we sat in the dealership, and they finally gave me a loaner - a brand new Escort hybrid. It actually does most of the same things the Mach E does...not everything, and not as cool to be driving around.

Didn‘t they stop making Escorts like 20 years ago?
18 years ago, close. 2003 was the last year for the "ZX2" Escort coupe. Course they do make Escorts in China now, cheapened last-gen Focuses.

What did they ever determine? Mine is having the exact same issues. They had it in the shop 4 days last week updating modules and low and behold errors started again today. It is 50 degrees where I am at…not even cold.

interesting..... I am noticing more and more reports of front AND rear cameras used for Driver Assist flaking out, and then recovering. I've read reports now of problems getting worse in Cold, and/or when hitting significant seams in road at speed, and sometimes reproducable by whacking interior trim near camera coaxial harness connections.
