The MME can actually pull close to 11.5kW, so 48A is exactly what you need if you want max charging speed.
Even better. Finding the capability of the onboard charger has been difficult, where did you find 11.5 kW? I haven't found a clear spec.

240V x 48A = 11.52 kW

I've also seen verified 11.5 kW (or just under) on Mach-E's while monitoring current and voltage.

9.6 kW is the most you can do from a 14-50 plug, upgrading to a hardwired EVSE to get the full 48A will only charge 20% faster but might cost significantly more to install. Price both ways with an electrician.

Thanks, the order guides list:
2021 and 2022 Mustang Mach E Order Guide said:
AC Charging: Up to 10.5kW with 48 Amps capability
So that's where I got confused. Glad to hear it can do 11.5 kW, 9.6 kW is pretty good, but if one is paying extra for a 48-amp charger/wiring, it's nice to use that full capability.

Yeah, manufacturers often under-report their onboard charger capabilities, but I'm not sure why. Maybe to account for lower voltages? My wife's RAV4 Prime is advertised to have a 6.6kW onboard charger, but it charges at 7.2kW regularly.

I have a dedicated electric meter for EV charging and 48 amp EVSEs. I can verify that when I plug in and walk over to my electric meter ... the car is actually pulling 11.5 kW.

So glad this came up on a search! Thank you. I just swapped in my new chargepoint for the Ford Mobile Charger and it's pulling 9.6. I was wondering why. Going to swap it to hardwired soon.

FYI the Ford Mobile Charger is limited to 32A or about 7.6 kW.
