Seems highly unlikely. All of the additional gear a police vehicle requires is going to make it more expensive than a civilian variant, not less. Unless Ford is cutting them a smokin' deal.

Sure, by the time the city is done outfitting them. But this just sounds like the city approved the purchase of the vehicles (in January). I don’t think there’s a Police Interceptor version available directly from Ford. The picture is just a concept render from last year.

It would have to be a custom configuration, so why not call it an Interceptor? There is no way to configure a civilian MME with AWD and ER for under $50k.

“The Mach-E is an all-electric, small crossover vehicle that is new on the market,” Matt Kulhanek, the city’s fleet manager, told council in a memo, noting the city is purchasing all-wheel-drive models for winter weather conditions.

The vehicles, which are expected to arrive later in 2021, could go about 210 miles per charge, Kulhanek said.

Real news I heard last weekend is Montgomery County, MD is working on getting some of these, too.
