Interesting behavior I noticed today. It is a hot and humid afternoon and my car has been unplugged a couple days.

I went to get something out of the trunk and used my phone to open it—immediately the AC system kicked in, obviously to cool the battery since the car was unplugged and NOT preconditioning.

Hadn’t noticed this behavior before, but apparently there are some circumstances where it will cool the battery off & unplugged (at least if the car senses you are nearby and interact with it). I never noticed this any other time I went out to my car to get something, so it must only kick in if it really needs to.

I’ve noticed this in my garage on very hot days if I wake the car up the cooling comes on for a short time even when unplugged. Sounds normal if the car is awake and thinks you’re going to use it. If it is locked and not plugged in and sleeping I have never heard the cooling kick on.
