I had to pull my panels to charge my 12v battery. Since I was in there I decided to improve the lighting for the frunk.

I had some 12v led light strips that I used to fully light up my trunk of my 2016 GT. They don’t make them anymore, but they are similar to these

1. I pulled the hood liner.
2. The flat section is at the right angle and just over the frunk, so I drilled the holes where the leds would be.

3. I hot glued the lights in place. I also hot glued the wire to the hood line and routed it to the left strut where I zip tied it all the way to the frunk wire harness.

4. I cut off the light connector and spliced in my wire.

5. Here’s the end result. Very happy. Except for a little section of wire, everything is hidden.

Next, improve the lighting under the rear hatch.

oh yeah. Also idrilled the holes for charging access.

Mustang owners, ICE and EV, can’t help but mod our cars. Ford is just leaving level 1 mods so the newbies can get into it. At least that is what I keep telling myself.

Same! It’s just funny though the things they let us mod are the dumb parts, and not the cooler parts (like power and handling).

Let me edit for those that are not gonna read between the lines:

Little double back tape, some Velcro , wireless……….charge with USB charging cable, lights turn on & off or motion detect at night! Works for me again staying away from that 12 V battery lol.

Wireless USB charging??? How does that even work?
USB cable and I plug it into my couch, or my plug for my iPhone it’s a USB cable that does plug into the end of that light and charges it qualifies as USB charging?
And there is no wires connect to it so it’s wireless

Ah ok, I thought it was some magical dongle you plug in, and that wirelessly powers the light somehow ?.

I figure as much as I’m gonna open that at night. I probably won’t ever have to charge that unless that battery naturally just goes dead.

Sweet, thank you, and genius.
I see that it has various modes. As you drive during the day, does it stay off? Does it automatically come on at night? Or did you find a mode in which it only turns on when you open the trunk = movement?
They’re under my counter right now and all I know is they stay off as long as you don’t get by and move them so if there’s something moving around in the back, it would probably come on for a second but if there’s nothing moving, but I think you could change them up for nighttime only but when you shut the trunk, it’s gonna be dark so I think I would just do the motion just experiment with it
