Now that’s an innovative charger. I’d consider going for it if we had time of day rate structures.

As far as I’m aware these are CHAdeMO only.

“However, during my conversation with Alfaro, he told us that he was in communication with a variety of automakers and he sounded hopeful, if not confident, that the current dominant DC standard, the Combo plug, would soon be capable of bi-directional power flow as well.”

Good to know. I was told not for at least 5 years by a manufacturer here in the UK who are developing a V2G wall. box for CCS. Was researching my options before getting my wall box installed.

.
Yep, I’ve seen them... sadly not available in the UK.

Yeah, so I was a bit skeptical when I initially saw that they said bi-directional and both CCS and CHAdeMO connectors, as I was sure that it’s only possible with a CHADeMO, and even then I think only the Nissan Leaf and maybe Renault Cleo were able to... at least over here the V2G trials have only been possible with those two cars.

I contacted wallbox for a quasar quote, no response yet, 3 days. I also, hit up yousolar.com, who have a modular (upgradable) li-ion battery pack you could use for battery backup for emergency power or V2G or G2H use. Yousolar got back to me in a couple days, asked me for my power usage, sent, awaiting quote.

Interesting . . . but $4,000 . . .? Would be great to have this kind of option during a power outage. I have an app on my phone with my power company that dynamically shows me my power usage by day, week, or month. On a normal hot day with the AC running I am using about 55KWH. A fully charged Mustang could power my house for a day with the 88KWH battery with room to spare. That's pretty impressive.

I'm just hoping my $100, 1kW battery backup setup I have for my Leaf will work on the Mustang. I just need to be able to access the 12v battery under the frunk.

If I lived off the grid, I can maybe see it being useful. Although if I lived off the grid, I wouldn't have home charging, and I wouldn't buy a BEV in the first place, so there's that.

Or maybe if I had frequent home power outages (which I don't).

Otherwise this just sounds like wearing the very expensive battery in my nice car down sooner.
