Bird Eye View black square

Couldn't find if this was asked yet, but does anyone know if the black square around the car on the display when in 360 degree bird eye view will be updated to go away in the future? I don't have a picture at the moment, but there are some flying around this post that do show it. I can find one if needed to help with my question.

Future OTA? You're not the first to suggest it either.

If so, that is bad camera placement or lens choice. Even the four year old Bolt avoids that.

I’ve never driven a Bolt, but my Outlander and my wife’s Pacifica both have similar blind spot areas.

In fairness, Bolt does have very small blind spots near corners but nowhere near what was shown in those MME pics. The blind spots for the Bolt are very minor and located such that virtually no useful information would be there anyhow.

The one we saw had the front camera video “stutter”, but the 360 view didn’t have the black bars. Looks like it does have some reflection off of the car, perhaps because the mirrors were folded?

What is the front camera for? Just for parking and such for the driver? Or does the driver assist use it to read lane lines, speed limits, pedestrian crossing the road, etc. similar to Tesla?

The camera in the nose of the car is for the 360 views (parking etc). The camera in the windshield, in front of the rearview mirror, is for reading lane lines and signs etc.

It's pre-production hardware running pre-production software. I don't think there's cause for concern (yet).

They're talking about the black rectangle around the car in the top 360 view.

That's the standard experience. Both of my cars with 360 have this. It just depends upon how noticeable it is based upon the color of the box, how boxy the car is and the size of the box relative to the car.
