I'm skimming through it. He gets worked up about the charging speeds after 80% and the lack of information the car displays to the driver about kW being received.

2+ hours to charge to 100% from ~83%.

He is always charging in these test to 100% even if the manual says not to...not very usefull...that's why i prefer his 1000km tests, than he isn't doing this and only trying to do the 1000km as fast as possible within reasonable speedlimits....

Some quick points as he drives:
  • 240Wh/km at -5C @90km/hr
  • Mach-E is expensive in Norway. It's 576,000 Norwegian Kroner.
  • Bjorn believes the Mach-E only has 85kWh usable, not 88kWh.

did he already do the 100-0 battery test? If so, what was his range?

He just stopped at 329km at 90kph with 4% remaining.

I mean as he should. Other EVs DCFC to 100% without issue or drama, Ford chose to make it arbitrarily fall off a cliff at 80%. As has been discussed on here before, sometimes you have to go beyond 80% to make the next DCFC, and some DCFCs are per-minute, so this is an expensive and severely inconvenient choice for Ford to have made.

He's down to about 80kW at 60%....

but I'm sure the updates will provide better charging rates soon. Ford must have been fairly prudent with the capacity available until better info is obtained from the mass users

etron has much better charging speed, this is really matter on road trip.
I'm a bit disappointed to hear him think that since on paper, the stats are pretty close and the MME is theoretically more efficient.

52mi/ten minutes of charging is Ford's claim
vs.
54mi/ten minutes for the Audi e-tron.

the thing is he's not really taking into account charging curve as part of the design. The eTron by all accounts has a more generous charging curve, but if you are able to charge to 80% more frequently then what happens 80%-100% doesn't really matter.

When @OutofSpecKyle did his cross-country trip where the Taycan beat a Tesla there was a lot of talk in that video about more, shorter stops versus less, longer stops. It's not as simple as "well it charges faster longer."

It is very dependent on things like placement of chargers, speed of the chargers, etc.

It's clear the Mach-E is not achieving this in the real world, not on Electrify America equipment, not on Ionity equipment. Is this a chilly battery? Perhaps, but that's still not an excuse when other automakers have battery conditioning, and Ford has the hardware, but chooses to only use it when parked.
