Ford would have to be *really* stupid to not backport it to 21/22s and still call it "BlueCruise 1.2".

"Here subscribe to this service... oops we left you behind 3 months after your lowly job1 finally got BlueCruise. You'll still subscribe, right?" is going over like a lead balloon.

Edit: Can confirm only 1 year of BlueCruise on my late-job1 vehicle. Given it took most of a year (more than a year from vehicle build date) to get any BlueCruise on it, I would assume it'll expire long before this arrives.

While I agree with your point, you got 1 year for free because of the delay, then it will cost you $200 a year. You had the prep package. Those of us that had the active package paid $600 upfront for 3 years.

Still a shit move if they don’t roll it back to us but I don’t think they will. Coming from the tech world, the signal words to me are NEXT GEN, 1.2 and 2023 models. They most likely made a hardware change and if it is ever available it will require some kind of hardware upgrade. Perhaps discounted when you’re a subscriber.

I'd like to hope the service window didn't start until one could actually use the service?!?!?

I would think that because I have written and approved these kinds of releases. A lot of thought goes into what they say and what they don't. It would be a marketing plus to say that the cars you buy from us are evergreen to the extent possible. Easy win. yet, it doesn't say that. And... I am suspicious that they need some hardware tweaks to pull this off.
I have to agree. I think autonomous driving is more dependent on algorithms and machine learning than the cameras and radar it uses. Blue Cruise is a software feature. People tweeting to Ford might want to ask if we all have the same camera modules in our cars. If we do...

This. Could someone please twit (or whatever the correct verb is) the appropriate Ford person, and ask whether or not existing Mustang Mach Es (including 2021 Job 1s) have the necessary hardware for BlueCruise 1.2?

Hang on, let's not try to exaggerate the "poor me" impression. They gave you a discount when you bought the job 1 because it didn't have BC from the get-go, and then gave you a free year of BC - which didn't start until AFTER the BC software was installed. When that 1 year of free service expires, at the VERY LEAST your car will still have the same BC features "they promised you" when you bought the car. If that isn't good enough for you, then don't pay the BC subscription fee when your free trial ends.

I'd like to hope the service window didn't start until one could actually use the service?!?!?
The complementary year didn't start until the software was installed.

Absolutely I would love to get the new BC features, but generally speaking when the current version of BC engages it works pretty well for me. I don't really need the handsfree lane change (that feels like a gimmick), but giving big trucks more of a cushion would certainly be nice. My bigger problem is that I've driven the same BC-mapped roads more than a dozen times since getting BC, and roughly half the time it stays in "hands-on" mode even in great visibility.

Sigh. Let’s try this again, with less humor: could someone please tweet Mike Levine, or another appropriate Ford person and ask if earlier model Mustang Mach Es, particularly 2021 Job 1s have the appropriate hardware to support BlueCruise 1.2?

Does that work?

Even if this is hardware compatible, which is doubtful, remember how long it took to activate BC for early 21's? I'm not optimistic..

Do what you want. Ford has already said that existing BlueCruise will be compatible, before most vehicles even had it.

Social media has much value. But the amount of energy that is spent demanding exact, specific, I want to hear it this way stuff is crazy. Sure, they could have added words into the statements they made, but they're clear to me.

Perhaps people should write the statement that they want to hear, word for word, and then ask Ford to agree it's entirely, 100% correct.

I'm done with this thread, waste of time.

Have a good weekend all!

As far as I'm aware, The hardware is unchanged, so this should be able to be updated on 2021 and 2022 cars.

Are you sure? Do you have proof? When you learned this, had the person telling you sworn on a bible to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? If you read it, was the document you read from stamped "certified by Ford senior management", dated and signed? If it was, was that document then notarized and time-stamped?
