For those that self painted your brake calipers, what paint did you use and how has it held up? I would like to do this but not really interested in spending $800 on powder coating....

I have used engine paint on a number of cars and it turned out and held up fine. On a car that generates enough heat to mess up engine paint, powder coating isn’t going to cut it, as it will begin to melt off and/or scorch. If you’re going through the expense and effort of removing the calipers and disassembling them, do it right and get the calipers Jet-Hot coated (or other high-heat ceramic coating). Otherwise a rattle can of engine paint will do just fine.
