California Personalized Plates

Well, it only took the California DMV, 218 days or 7 months, 4 days or 31 weeks and 1 day to get my Personalized Plate (RSMACHE). The website says 6-8 weeks! They are such a good business model, almost as good as the Post Office! Way to go guys!

Well, I'm living proof that is a correct statement! It said 6-8 weeks when I ordered mine last June!

Took 9 weeks to get normal CA plates. Used to take 6 days.

I didn't realize you could get black and white plates in CA. I thought it was only black and yellow.

Has anyone recently been able to put 7 characters with a half space? We *used* to be able to do this as there were 7 boxes and an extra option to check if you want to add a half space, for total of 7.5 characters (technically).

Am I remembering wrong? Possible Mandela effect?

The one I want would really be a LOT clearer if there were a half space in there so I don't want to order without it if there's a way to do it.

Looks like I found a workaround. The online order form will help you find what is available and order, but if you want a half-space with 7 characters, looks like the "paper" form can still be mailed. They have the correct 8 boxes so you can add the half space. In my opinion, the online form has a bug since it only has 7 boxes.

You can’t. I ordered the plate through ETSY ahead of receiving my actual plates from DMV. I saw these plates on a few other cars and I liked them. I have a buddy that’s a cop and he said they wouldn’t mess with you and pull you over unless you were involved in a moving violation.

Unfortunately, that's not an option online anymore, looks like you can only do it via mail/paper assuming that's the updated version of the form.

I just got my plates yesterday. It took about 13 weeks total. It is so nice having them shipped directly to my house instead of having to go to a DMV office...
