Camping trip in the Mach-E (with a Lightning and Rivian, too!)

Last weekend we took our Mach-E on a little camping trip with Out of Spec Studios. They brought a Rivian and a Lightning, so it was a pretty electric camping trip.

The worst part of the trip was getting to the campsite. We were told it was just down a dirt road, but it was actually a really rocky dirt road and we had to be very careful not to scrape the bottom of the Mach-E or to pop a tire. Of course, the Rivian and Lightning handled that with no problem and we even took them on a more serious off-road adventure in the morning.

Sleeping in the back of the Mach-E was a bit cramped, but not too bad. We didn't run the car overnight as the temps were perfect. I was curious to try leaving the car on and seeing how much battery we'd lose, but that will have to wait until the next trip.

Was curious if you left it on. Was that a foam mattress and not blow up?

We didn't leave it on. The temps were perfect so no need. It was a foldable foam mattress from Tesmanian.

Was it thick enough you didn't need any sort of filler behind the front seats?

Wow, I would have definitely been freaking out trying to drive on that trail to the campsite with the limited clearance in the Mach-E. Good job navigating that successfully Patrick without damaging your pack or tires! That would have also been a very bad day if you popped a tire in the middle of the trail to the campsite! No spare and blocking the road.

It was thick but it is a soft foam so we needed something in the gap.

Although you could have moved the seats forward and made the mattress flat, I would think the end of the mattress would tend to bend down into the rear passenger seat wells. Or did you use something to fill the gap?
