I just ordered a 2022 Mach-E on Jan. 20th. Now I have a 28 week wait. Should I cancel and reorder in July or so in hopes of having order changed to a 2023 model by the time of delivery? Also, I ordered a black on black color scheme, and hear the roof lets in a lot of light which heats up the car. Should I change the interior color? Finally, has anyone else ordered the Absolute Black? I haven’t seen too many pictures nor comments on the Mach-E in Absolute Black.

I always smile when I read "I hear".

You should spend some time reading the forum. The roof doesn't heat up the car, at all. Period.

It's unlikely that a July 2022 order will be a 2023 model. It will be more likely around 10/1 for delivery in 2023.

There are a lot of posts about the panoramic roof and heat. As @RickMachE said, the consensus is that very little heat, if any, gets through the sunroof. If you find it bothersome for any reason, there are aftermarket inserts to plug that “hole” should you desire it,

Why not just wait until 2023 in the hopes of getting a 2024 model? You have to draw the line somewhere.

Thanks for the reply. As a newbie it is my fault for not reading all the posts or doing a through search of the site.

Don’t worry too much about it. The search function is less intuitive than we would all hope. But it can find some of the common stuff with the right key words. We’ll still try to help.

As to whether you should wait, the 2022s are roughly 6% more expensive than the 2021s. Do you have reason to believe that the 2023s will not be more expensive than the 2022s?

This.

It will be 50% or 25% by the time you take delivery in 2023.
Or it will be more, because the tax law changes.

Or, it will be zero, because the tax law changes.

Or, Ford will lower the price if demand drops with the rebate dropping.

Point is - buying in the present has more certainty, and likely lower prices, than in the future.

I have a Shadow Black GTPE and live in California. I have the pano-roof and loving it. Special coating blocks the heat. Unless you're in Arizona, you shouldn't have any problems.

I believe people in Arizona have also posted they have no issues.

This has got to be a record for the all time earliest cancel for next model year thread. I mean has anyone even received a '22 yet?
