I used the walk away lock future and always listen for the horn to make sure it locked but about 25% of the time it doesn't. I have to stop and pull out the key fob and then press the lock button and it works. The FOB battery is fine and I'm not doing anything different. It's frustrating because it's so inconsistent. Has anyone else had this happen?

I have noticed that it only works if you close the door and walk away immediately (like literally rush away from the car). If you stay a few seconds near the car (or within whatever range it detects) it does Not lock once you walk away. Just my experience.

I turned mine off. Mine was a little better than yours, but not good enough. I also didn't like that it would unlock and re-lock in my garage as I moved around my house. It's easy to hit the lock button on the door pillar.

This is close to the main issue I have. My car will lock automatically when I park and walk away but EVERY time as I'm waiting for the elevator about 75+ feet away, the car unlocks again as if I walked toward it.
Also at the dog park. Car will lock itself no problem when I walk away but will CONSTANTLY unlock itself if I take a couple steps toward it from 100+ feet away. Sometimes it will unlock with me standing in one spot. Super inconsistent.

Are you sure it’s unlocking and it’s not just the welcome lighting coming on? In my experience, the car doesn‘t actually unlock until you hit the button to open the door.

But if I'm at the dog park for instance, and the welcome lights turn on, doesn't that mean the key is in range to unlock the car? So anyone could walk up and quickly open the door and snatch something if they wanted?

No. The welcome lighting will come on when you’re still quite a ways away from the car. It isn’t supposed to unlock unless the fob (or PaaK) is within 3 feet of the door when you press the button to open it.

I didn’t trust walk away lock on my last car (Chevy) and I don’t trust it on my Mach E.

I use it as a back up, not as the primary way I lock my car.

Basically if I forget, then it will lock for me 75% of the time.

This should be a feature that works 100% of the time because otherwise I don't know if my car is unlocked unless I stop to listen for the horn. I do like the feature and it's very convenient but I just been getting frustrated at the inconsistency.

You can get the app posted on this forum and it will tell you if your car is unlocked, doors are open, windows open, etc.

Is that still iOS only or did someone put an Android version together?

If you have push notifications on the FordPass app, it tells you when the car locks from walk away.

Yes, it would be nice if it was 100%, but even without PAAK on my old Chevy it wasn’t 100% either.

Luckily there are lots of ways to lock the car. With the door button inside, the lock on the outside of the door (symbol above the unlock button), with the keypad on the outside of the door (code), with the fob or with your phone (FordPass).

And all of those work 100%.

Remember when you had to put a key in the door? I still do for my ‘69. Or I have to lock from the inside, then hold the door button while closing.

It worked like 99.9% of the time for me until I updated FordPass to 4.12.0 a few days ago. Only now is it highly inconsistent.
