I would like to change the standard Premium 225 55 R19 wheels to the GT wheels 245 45 R20. Does anyone know if they would fit with no modifications.

I would imagine they would fit fine but I’m not sure if anyone will know for certain until more people take delivery

They should fit since radius is the same. The biggest issue will be offset. Like mentioned thats something that would have to be tested.

Another suggestion, would be replace the 225 55 R19 with 254 45 R20's. I wonder if that would work. Would give more rubber on the ground.

Is this the standard GT wheel with aero cover? Doesn't look like a cover but actual wheel.

From my research so far, I think they will fit with no modifications needed - I've only found one part number for the steering knuckle and for the wheel bearing and hub assembly, so my guess is that the GT has the same suspension and hub components as the other models (this makes sense - I don't know why Ford would change that just for the GT). That would mean that the two wheels are designed to mount to the exact same components. The offsets will be different to account for the width (20" has a bit higher offset), but it should all be plug-n-play.

The opposite won't be true - the larger rotors on the GT almost certainly won't clear a 19" wheel.

Of course the caveat is that we don't have any in hand yet, so until someone looks at one in person this isn't 100% sure, but I'm probably 90% sure.

There is one part that you didnt account for that 100% will be different and thats the struts. The offset will effect the clearance to the stryts which we know are not same. I tend agree they should but we wont know until somebody gets a GT

Good point, though in the case described, putting a GT wheel on a Premium, the Premium would have to have larger/bulkier struts than the GT in order to create a clearance problem, which I hope is unlikely. But as you say, until we start seeing vehicles there is an element of speculation.

I was thinking maybe the geometry might change.

Or at least until the parts lists and diagrams come out.

I bet they fit with no modifications. I put a set of 19x8.5 +20 with 245/50/19 and a set of 20x9 +35 with 275/40/20 both fit with no issues

the picture is the 19x8.5 245/50/19

Did the tires affect range at all?
