I dont know which updates have been applied to my car. Is there any way I can check? I could call the dealer but not sure they know either.
When was your car built? Have you had any updates done? The dealer can check by punching your VIN into FDRS. Whether they will or not is another story. I'd go the build date route first and see how that matches up with the date in the TSB.

I get the same fan noise when charging at 48 amps as I get when charging at 32 amps. If I let the battery cool for a couple of hours before charging then the fan does not even come on. The car is in an underground garage which is cool in the summer and warm (50 degrees) in the winter
That is amazing to me. And frankly kind of scary.
Every EV that I have owned has cooled the battery while charging (two PHEVs and two EVs).
Our first PHEV just had air cooling so it was just a range of fan speeds from low to high but the other three vehicles had/have liquid cooled batteries with pumps and chillers.

Sometimes just the pumps are running. I can feel it by placing my hand on the fender.
Most times the pumps and fans are running with louvers open. Can be low fan speed like I observed today but usually it's medium-ish speeds. During the summer it's medium to high fan speeds with the compressor/chiller running. We just now are entering the time of year where I can charge my car without needing the compressor/chiller components

My car has been on plug charging for several hours now (32A @ 6.6 kW). For the first 10-15 minutes it was just running the pumps and the louvers were closed. Then the louvers opened and fans turned on (Low speed) and it's been like that since. My Focus Electric was the same way but it's battery was fairly small by comparison (33.5 kWh) so it charged up quickly but even after it was fully charged it would still cool the battery for a short while afterwards. Then while parked on plug the fans and chillers would come on from time to time to keep the battery cool.

Maybe it's just the region where I live that battery cooling is such a demanding thing? For you folks that live in cooler climates....does your car really charge without heating up the battery enough to at least run the pumps? Amazing. ?

To close the loop on the conversation with several of you a couple weeks ago, I now have a 240 volt outlet in the garage that's protected by a 50 amp breaker. The work was done by a licensed company for $550. The location of the outlet may not be ideal but life in a condo requires compromises. The unfortunate part is that I won't have anything to plug into the outlet for another 3 months, maybe more. But I'll be ready! LOL

Thanks. I'm happy with their work. The close proximity of the breaker box and garage wall worked to my advantage.
And may I ask what charger you were planning to get and use? Btw, I am in your boat to. Going ahead shortly to get the electrical work done for a car coming in March/April. My wife just laughs. Best of luck. ?

I think I'll be going with this one:
https://evcharging.enelx.com/store/residential/juicebox-40

My local power company offers a $250 discount on a few different charger systems including the JuiceBox 40 so I'll buy through them whenever their inventory is restocked.

I hope Ford surprises you early!

We have the Juicebox 40. Loved the SRP discount. It looks like the same boxes that San Tan Ford uses.

I am getting JB 40 also when it comes back into stock with my utility company. They offer a $450 credit when purchased thru them and use their electric management system.

from what I read the outlet should be about 1 ft from where you plan to install the charger. Doesn’t make sense since the cord is a little over 2 ft but whatever.

having electrician install next Friday but car won’t be here for another 3 months at best.

The thought behind the 1 foot distance between the charger and the outlet, I believe, is that the charger and the outlet are at the same height and the 2 foot power cable is suspended between them. The electrician should install the NEMA 14-50 socket with the ground pin at the top.

3 months or more? You and me both. I've placed an order for a 2022 model as well because I'm not so sure I want to pay MSRP in 2022 for the prior year's model.

At this point mine is a 21, production week of Nov 29, last of the 21’s? Not thrilled but didn’t want to change anything.

I was thinking of putting charger above the receptacle on the same stud where the outlet will probably be placed just a ft above the outlet.

I read ground pin should be on top and have instructions for electrical printed out, it also needs 6 AWG

good luck

My 2021 production week was 11/22 initially then moved to 11/29 and now it's 12/6. I ordered it on 5/5. The odd thing is that a few people in this forum have posted that their 2022s are also scheduled for production the week of 12/6. I've asked the dealer to verify the model year versus production date but haven't received an answer.

I ordered on Sept 10 and don’t understand how I am getting a 21 and others like you ordered earlier are getting a 22. I think but not 100 percent sure that 11/29 week might be last of 21’s. They probably can change that if they want.
