Charging Port Door Issue

While driving on freeway, I received a warning that my charging port door was open. When I stopped, sure enough it was open. I had been on the road over an hour when it happened. Smooth rides. Fortunately it closed without issue and hasn’t recurred...yet! Has anyone experienced this issue. My fear is that it would open and not stay closed, preventing me from starting car.

It won’t prevent you from starting the car. Still not a great thing to have happen but it won’t strand you.

Good to hear it won’t strand me! Even before this happened I was a little suspect of the door, it just seems a bit flimsy. Hope it holds up.

Both of the Ford plugins I've had has had a flimsy door like the Mach-E over the plug. Never had an issue with any of them.

It stays closed better than my Fusion door, which I sometimes find has been open after a drive. It's like driving with the car's fly open or something.

That exact thing happened to me like 3 days ago... so weird

At least it doesn’t open the other way...otherwise it would have been blown right off?

Mine opened due to the water pressure in a car wash. It wouldn't surprise me if just the right wind at highway speeds would do it as well.

This has happened to me three times now! I notice it happening during freeway drives and it seems to occur when I am driving quite (very) fast ... like when I'm passing someone ... yeah that's why I go so fast, lol.

Anyway, it's quite annoying and embarrassing with that big cover wide open while your trying to look cool cruising down the street. I hope there's a fix soon!

Mine opens once a month? I’ve driven at top speed with it open to see if it’ll close because I didn’t want to stop to close it but no dice lol.
