Hi,
Wanted to take my MachE to white mountain area.
Drive from Nashua NH to Lincoln NH, then to North Conway via Kancamagus.
Total trip is 260 miles.
My new max range is about 220 on full charge.
So I do need to stop somewhere (I could push my luck and get back to Manchester NH).

Ideally I want something in North Conway area (tried PlugShare, EA etc. I don't see CCS plugs).
I think there is a new station in Tilton.

I am looking for recommendation from someone who has charged Mustang or CCS plug car recently in the Conway, NH area.

Thanks

not sure about Tilton but last I new you were out of luck north of Manchester and West Lebanon won’t help you much. Level 2 is your only option.

Plugshare shows two CCS/SAE 50kW plugs at the Tilton location.
Tanger outlets.
120 Laconia Rd Ste 217, Tilton, NH 03276, USA

Above location will take 205 miles.
I only need to add 60-70 miles to make it back home.

I can't make it back to Manchester, NH (trip shows 244 miles).

Here's what I will do.
From home drive to Tanger outlets listed above (From home it's 60 miles, so I should have 160 mile range on full charge).

Round trip from Tilton to mountains is 150 miles.
Charge to 90% (about 200 miles, I have the new software update).

On the way back either stop to Tilton or Manchester and top it off in 10-15 min to make it home.

Unfortunately the North Conway area is a charging desert. I wanted to go up to Story Land with our daughter and we had to go from Billerica to Portland to charge, and then over to North Conway. Then on the way back we stopped in Kittery.

There are a few level 2 chargers around North Conway, but no level 3 unfortunately.

As long as you have enough charge to handle the elevation gain on the Kanc you should be fine.

I didn’t realize there was a 50kW in Tilton. I’ll usually hit the EA in Manchester to get to 60% which gets me home.

" I didn’t realize there was a 50kW in Tilton. "
- That's why going to stop by on the way to mountains so I know what range I will have.

BTW: The Irwin Ford dealership is close by (where I bought the car), wonder they will let me charge there and if they have DCFC charger....

I don’t know of any Ford dealers anywhere that have anything better than an L2. I think it’s fair game to stop and charge there during business hours, but check with them on the policy.

So I am back home after driving all the way to Kancamagus lower falls and back (via Lincoln NH).

I started from home at 217 mile range 98% charge.
Reached Tilton Tanger outlet malls around 11:15 AM.
Range was down to 172 miles (car used 45 miles of battery range for about 55 mile drive).

So Volta charge DO NOT have level 3 chargers working yet (I think they have 4 of these).
They do have several level 2 chargers (FREE just plug in to charge, no credit card or app).

I was ready to give up and change the plans when I noticed the level 2 charger.
They are spread around the parking lot.

So we changed our plans...
Shopped a little, grabbed lunch, in all kept the car plugged in for 1 hr 37 min.
Which added 45 miles back bringing range to 217 miles.
That was enough to drive Kancamagus and back home without stopping again (with 20 miles left when I pulled in the garage).

I am glad Volta added these chargers.
It made this trip possible even with level 2 chargers.
What also helped was Ford software update to get few more miles at 100% (230 vs 210).
Since I was charging at level 2 not sure the cutoff is 80% or 90% now.

Once level 3 works it would speed things up.
I can see topping off to 90% (200 miles) go to white mountains and come back to Tilton to charge again before heading back home.

When I was at lower falls, I checked Ford navigation and it was showing chargers in Bartlett and Conway (around 6 or 7 miles away).
I didn't check but that could be an option.

Another note on mountain driving.
EV makes it a breeze.
Unlike ICE engine, the motor noise remains same (very quiet) even when you are going up 7-8% incline.
Going down I used 'L'
In all it felt like I was driving on the flat road, you don't feel anything different at paddle.
It really is impressive driving up/down and not feeling like you are driving in the mountain.

Yesterday went to North Conway.
There are Level 2 chargers there as well.
There is one at Weather Discovery Center.
Free (but they ask to put $5 donation).
2 hours and 38 miles added while we walked round and got lunch.
Worked out perfect to drive to/from Nashua, didn't have to stop anywhere else for the charge.

If your heading north 93 exit 20 tilton. If you go straight off the exit there is a credit union on the right with a charger also free like the ones at the shopping center.

Yup, NO DC fast chargers in the North Conway area - so we drove our ICE car there in mid-July. Pulled into the North Conway Hannaford supermarket for a pit stop, and there was a bank of Tesla superchargers - darn it!

Hopefully the Tesla Superchargers will be opened up for us soon. I get a little surly driving past the I-93 rest stop in Hookset, NH and seeing a bank of a dozen superchargers (in each direction!) without even a single CCS or J1772.
