I think the Chinese Mustang Mach E is a fundamentally different vehicle than the one released in the rest of the world - it just shares some body panel styling.
I guess I can’t say I’m surprised considering Chinese EVs are destroying US EVs. The US variant would probably be laughable to the Chinese market lol

Really? Could you please cite some Chinese EV sales figures in the US market to back that?

I wonder if Chinese Mach-Es have HVBJB issues too? :D

Chinese EVs aren't sold in the US market so this graph is the next best thing. It shows 2010-2019 but I recall seeing recent information that showed a continued trend of Chinese EV sales leading globally. The graph doesn't break down Chinese EV sales into *their* domestic vs. foreign (Ford, VW, BMW, etc..) EV sales numbers however but it is illuminating to see the size of the Chinese EV market.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Chinese Mach E GT with no 5 second limit? EV sales

Not sure how Chinese made EVs (polestar models aside) that are not sold in the USA is really relevant to the sales in the Chinese home market. In general it is hard to argue against the Mach-e having done poorly in the Chinese market.

https://fordauthority.com/2023/08/changan-ford-takes-over-mustang-mach-e-operations-in-china/

Maybe the switch of having it available in through more sales channels will help, but I suspect that for a lot of potential Chinese EV owners the mach-e ship has sailed and sales numbers won't increase significantly, then again they can't exactly get much worse than a 85% year over year drop.

I’m not even talking about sales, I’m just referring to technology and advancement.

Not sure if you’ve heard, but there are a lot more people living there than here.

Looks like their sales per capita would be below ours.

But like he said, he wasn’t referencing sales.

So let’s hear about how their tech is “destroying” ours…….

Or I would just settle for a 1/4 mile time!

Thanks for the graph, but it's not really responsive. The poster said "Chinese EVs are destroying US EVs". Given that no Chinese EVs are sold in the US, as you observe, and any "US" EVs are actually just superficially similar to US EV models and are (with the exception of Tesla, I believe) manufactured by Chinese companies that license a US brand (they claim to be "joint ventures", but the ownership and control mechanisms make the actual business relationship resemble more a licensing agreement), then it's no surprise that, in the Chinese market, vehicles made by Chinese manufacturers would dominate.

To be honest, I don't have time to research the Chinese market so, since you were talking a bout the technology of Chinese EVs that is "destroying" US manufacturers, again, could you cite examples?

In terms of affordability and technology, yes.

FYI, I never meant that Chinese EVs are quite literally destroying US EVs in the US market. I meant that China is doing better than us in terms of advancement, technology and affordability in their own market - which is why I said they are destroying US EVs. I suppose maybe the word “destroying” was not a good word to use. Maybe a better wording would be “China is further ahead in terms of affordability, technology and overall advancement.”

I read the articles and didn’t see anywhere they are ahead of us in terms of technology. Do you have any specific examples?

Now in terms of price, not surprised for these quotes from the article-

“China is by far the global leader in making EV batteries, which it is able to do at lower cost, thanks to its dominance over the supply chain and raw materials such as lithium and cobalt.”

“Chinese EV makers have also benefited from billions of dollars in government subsidies, tax breaks and other incentives.”

Summary- they own the raw materials and supply chains and make batteries for cheap.

But none of this means they have a superior product (electric car). Quality, reliability, performance etc. I haven’t seen anything that makes me thing their cars “destroy” our cars

What US manufacturer has vehicles with solid state batteries already hitting the market? There are none.

What Chinese brand has solid state batteries hitting the market? It isn’t the one in your articles.

Because “plans to” and “hopes to……” I can refer you to dozens of companies with those claims.

An actual solid state battery car available for sale? Pretty sure it’s still in the “pipe dream” phase.
