I've had my Mach E Premium AWD extended battery since late May and have have patiently tolerated the PAAK difficulties but have finally had enough. I had the PAAK recall performed in July and it appeared to improve the consistency of PAAK, however this past week I have been unable to use PAAK and have had to repeatedly use the keypad to unlock the car, and then use my password to start the car. It runs great once started and is a joy to drive, but the fact the Ford is only providing 1 key fob for a $57K car is unacceptable. The fob stays with my wife as I'm willing to be stranded with this new technology, but no longer find it acceptable that Ford is pushing PAAK when it's only half baked. I'm ready to participate in a class action suit requiring Ford to provide a 2nd key fob like they do with their cheapest vehicles - let me know if you're aware of any so that I can add my name to the suit.

While I agree they should have included 2 fobs, I doubt there will be any class action. Even if someone tries to sue, it likely wont go anywhere. There are no requirements, Federal or state, that require 2 fobs to be included with new vehicles. Car manufacturers generally don't advertise or even put how many fobs on the window sticker. You cant sue over something that wasn't promised or advertised just because that's how other companies do something.

If you need a extra fobs for ANY brand of car, that should be taken care of during negotiations before purchasing the car.

I have to assume that you and your wife don’t live in the same house? And somehow the car doesn’t end up in the same location as the single key fob?? My wife and I have been sharing her Jeep Grand Cherokee with only 1 fob for 6 months (while I’m waiting for my GTPE) and maybe we are doing something wrong, but it hasn’t been a problem at all. 2 times I have had to go back into the house and grab it from her purse because she forgot to set it in the key fob holder on the kitchen counter, but that was barely a 3 minute inconvenience.

I get the $57k comment, considering my MME will be $70k, but then I have no problem shelling another $100 for the spare fob with the pocket change from the $8k in tax incentives. Of course I have NO idea why I would need a 2nd fob??? Again, when the car is returned HOME, the fob usually comes with it and I can just take that fob.

You are. There was nothing in the marriage vows about sharing a key fob and I’m willing to pay millions to lawyers to sue a multinational corporation to prevent having to engage in such such sharing. Now who’s with me? /s

I know there are no grounds for a class action, I was just ranting about the absurdity of only providing one fob for a flagship vehicle, hoping that someone from Ford will take note. Thanks for the wonderful advice of sharing a key fob amongst family members, I never ever thought of that - us midwesterners just aren’t very smart I guess

Amen Brother! I’ve been married 20 years and my wife has never driven the ‘66. Premarital asset and off limits. The MME will be slightly harder to keep her out off. ACTUALLY, this is where having only 1 fob will pay off. I’ll just “accidentally” leave it in my pocket when I take one of the other toys out for a jaunt.

The programming stick that came with the car, you call a fob, is sitting in my sock drawer from day one with all my single socks. PAAK has the odd hiccup but still seems to be okay for me.

Whisky tango foxtrot?! I WANT a lot of things, a lot of things are NICE to have, but why... Why... WHY is a second key something to sue over?

Anyways why stop at demanding two, what if you have a huge family, might as well demand 10!

I was teasing as well. Your rant wasn’t lost on me. If we did a search of this forum, I’m sure PAAK and the single key fob would come up as the Most complained about fault with the MME. I imagine Ford has already fired the executive that came up with that idea. In the quantity they buy them, that fob can’t cost $17, which was the worst $17 they every saved.

This is first thread ranting for a second fob by threatening with a class action suit. If Ford hasn’t heard our rants in the many other threads already on forum then maybe your class action idea for sure will get them moving on it.

Thank you :)

PS - Second FOB cost me $73 and my dealer programmed it for free.

Welcome to the club

A new iphone will be cheaper than a lawsuit, and another fob cheaper still.

First world problems ... I share in the pain. I'll be glad to get my MME before Christmas and giggle with delight when I finally get the miracle of science that is the singular fob.
