Question about MME message "Preparing for Drive" during cold temperatures. Away for holidays and monitoring the MME via Ford Pass App. I deleted all departure times and charging schedules and changed the charge level to 50%, leaving the mobile charger connected to the MME. However, Ford Pass App occasionally presents message "Preparing for Drive". Is this a default message when the MME is warming the battery during cold temps, even if not actually preparing to drive?

Yes, that means the battery is warming up, however the message seems to stick in FordPass for quite some time after the heating cycle has finished. It needs another update from the car in order to clear it. You can send a lock command, quit the app, then check it again in a couple minutes for an update.

I think they should change "Preparing for Drive" to "Preconditioning" in the app

About how long does the warming cycle last? The few times I timed the cooling cycle during the summer, it ran for just about 30 min each time. I would be surprised if that is enough time to heat the battery though...??

Depends how cold it is. Mine takes about 3 kWh to heat from the 20’s. On level 2 usually around 30 minutes.

Appreciate the clarification. I also noticed the message appearing a long time. It reset if I logged out, then in again. As with many other BEV features, seems the 'user stories' and subsequent messages are not comprehensive and clear. Ford should hire real users like us to help improve.

Interesting. Same 30 min. Makes me wonder if that is on a timer vs a target temp. ???
