So now that we have had the First Edition for a couple of months... The wife is asking if a Convertible will be made... Thoughts?

I would love a convertible, but I doubt we'll see one for a while as it would necessarily be a coupe and I don't see Ford spending the time on a low volume coupe when the rest of their lineup needs electrification

I've seen older cars (4 door) that were convertible...
So why not go with the newer "pop up safety pillar" design between the front and rear doors?

It may make the car lite compared to current version... just a thought.

I would love cruising around with the top down ... in a quiet Mach-E GT PE!

Sad face... I don't think it looks as sexy.

The bronco ..? maybe.. but not F-150. Looks like someone tried to cross under a railroad trestle.
plus as an April fools' joke

There are a lot of things about the Mach-E that I expected to be great and in fact turned out to be great. One unexpected thing that I did not anticipate but turned out to be wonderful is how little wind noise there is with all four windows completely down.

It doesn’t make it a convertible, but with all four windows down and the panoramic glass roof, you have something approaching a targa. I highly recommend driving this way, at least trying it out once when the weather cooperates.

I don’t know if it’s because the Mach-E had to be much more aerodynamic than the average car, but driving with all four windows down is nothing like doing so in all manner of ICE sedans and SUVs I’ve driven over the years. It is much quieter.

Chances are slim to none.

A convertible has to solve the structural rigidity problem. With the floor being taken up by battery, I assume it would be difficult to replace the rigidity provided by the superstructure that's removed when making a convertible.

I suspect a convertible may be planned for the eventual BEV Mustang Coupe. That could be a while.

In the meantime, VW has teased folks with the possibility of bringing the ID.3 to the US as a Cabriolet (2 door convertible).

I would think a convertible would ruin the aerodynamics and therefore the efficiency/range. But I could be wrong.

if the Murano CrossCabriolet can exist, a Mach-E Convertible can exist. (*)
