If I ever did something like this, I wouldn't put in on social media...
Between the doughnuts video and this, I was think the OP may be a masochist.

But, honestly, bravo to the OP for owning up to mistakes. Most wouldn’t be so brave to post the stupid stuff we’ve done.

SUCKS, getting old. The right hand starts doing what the left hand is supposed to do.
Maybe I've not reached your level of maturity yet, because my mind just wandered to things I don't think you intended. ?

From your post it sounds like you crashed because you floored the gas pedal when hitting the brake would have resulted in you not hitting the vehicle in front of you and not because of auto hold being broken. Unfortunate that auto hold was acting up, but as with every other technology you are ultimately responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle and you floored the gas pedal and drove into the vehicle in front of you due to being distracted. Tough lesson to learn, but I can see it being one that a lot of people could make due to the way our Mustangs drive. Between 1 pedal, hold, and the other various "assists" that allow us to pay less attention to driving it gets easy to lose concentration.

I browsed most of this thread, and despite what was posted before, thank you for sharing your experience. I don't find it embarrassing or anything to be ashamed of. You made a mistake and are trying to bring attention to it so others don't follow suit, so thank you for that. This is nothing more than a learning experience and hopefully at least one person learns from this thread instead of making the same mistake themselves.
Thank You. Yes, i totally blame myself as thr driving aids are to assist us, not to replace. Unfortunately with tume your human senses get used to all the gadgets and mistakes happen.

I know, I know. But here’s the thing- you recently took your MME to a field and had someone video you acting like a generic Ken Block, which, in turn, screwed up numerous systems in said MME.
Then, knowing these systems were screwed up, and, after posting in the forums about it, you still drove your car. To a car wash. And pushed the throttle pedal. Instead of the brake pedal. It’s all just so perfect. And ridiculous.

I once posted on the inter webs about making a “money shift” in my then new ‘98 Z-28, 3rd to 2nd instead of 4th. Even back in ‘98 the dealer where I took it was on LS1.com and saw my post. So, no warranty coverage for me. Therefore, I footed the bill for the bent valves and pushrods and other parts/labor involved to the tune of $2000. I was in my early 20s.

You may be footing the bill for what would have been warranty work soon too. Not the wreck, the other broken stuff.

I wish you good luck though.
100% will not foot he bill for the doughnut errors as Ford admitted having many issues similar and needing software update, the flooring in to front car is obviously 100% my fault and my insurance will finally in so so so many years have to pay out for once?‍♂

That’s why we have insurance, which is money out of our pocket for these type things, so I hope you can relax and not beat yourself up too badly. Glad no one got hurt. We all learn from our mistakes. Take care.??

What I've learned about the Mach-E is that with 1PD, Auto-Hold is enabled by default. I've tried toggling the Auto-Hold switch on and off, but there's no difference.

I don't use OPD. I don't use hold. I'm not ready to untrain 25 years of muscle memory.

You can get regen with gentle brake pedal pressure.
To each their own, but I’ve been using OPD for the past.4 years and it just feels natural to me, used it from day 1 of my Bolt and it didn’t take long to get used to it. Not to mention it saves on brake wear. However, my wife hates OPD and refuses to use it, so I can see where you’re coming from.

I have one minor request:
The big pedal on the left is a “brake” pedal. It slows down or stops our car.
We try to never “break” our Mustang Mach Es ??? Although we are sometimes violently attacked by antisocial parking bollards ???

Why? Not like i did it on purpose, just shows that shit can happen and more as we rely on technology.
This has nothing to do with reliance on technology and everything to do with lack of focus by the driver. Driving a car is not a casual experience. Without focus and lack of attention it becomes a deadly device.

I'm glad you're ok! Sucks about the car though. Don't beat yourself up too much - mistakes happen and no one was hurt. I use OPD and autohold, though I've found myself a couple of times not fully releasing the accelerator after a long rolling stop and been surprised when I'm not "holding." Funny thing with the OPD, although I've only been using it for a week, I catch myself expecting to decelerate more/faster when I ease up on the gas on my ICE vehicle. OPD feels very natural already.

My previous vehicle is a 2006 Toyota Tacoma. It had cruise control. The end.

I turned 1pd on in the Mach-e when I took delivery. By the third city traffic light, I had it figured out and have never turned it off. It works, it works well in fact.

Never been a fan of 1PD for this exact reason. This is a variation in brake response depending on how fast you are moving and the model. In my volt in 1PD the car creeps forward but not in my I3, my Etron and MachE don't have 1PD engaged at all. The Etron in particular does not have creep forward so it will roll backwards when you take foot off go! Been several fender benders due to this. On my I3 1PD almost caused numerous accidents in icy/wet weather as when you take food of accelerator the 1PD slams on braking before you can feather it esp. going down hill. So dangerous I refuse to let my minor children drive the I3 at all. Even my wife will not drive it in poor weather.

I hope the whole 1PD thing goes away or at least becomes optional add on. The most efficient drive mode is to let the car coast/free wheel. 1PD prevents the car from its most efficient mode of operation.

It is optional right now. If you don’t want to use it either don’t turn it on or turn it off, as the case may be.

As for the rest of your arguments against 1pd, they are debatable at best.

This is why I ended up turning off 1PD. I had no trouble mastering it quickly and enjoyed using it. But that created new muscle memory, and I expected deceleration when I was driving my wife's car. Since I regularly drive both cars, I turned off 1PD in the MME so my muscle memory would be the same.
