6. Needs to be available in colors that aren’t best described as grey.
This one might be hard for Ford if they make EV color choices like the Mach-E’s. We only have orange, red, and the ugly blue that I bought in addition to 14 shades of grey. 🤪🐩

Could be worse. I went to the Nissan website and built the Ariya just for fun. There are literally no colors that can’t be described as almost no grey, grey, or way too much grey. ;)

I mean, it would have to take something really convincing to get me to switch before I pay it off. Buuuuttt, I said the same thing about my Select AWD, and now I have a GTPE.

The MME is the first new vehicle I have ever purchased which I was unable to get in and drive, for two years now, w/o issues. (Also the most expensive ever purchased.)
SIMPLE:
I want a vehicle from day one that I am able to use as I wish, when I get in it, including road trips should I so desire. Not reasonable to own a vehicle which I cannot use as desired for two years due to a defective part that the manufacturer refuses to replace - a completely unacceptable situation.
Not unreasonable, methinks.
Like the Bolt - not cool BUT IT WORKS and keeps working w/ no problem

I'm putting 15k miles a year on our MME.
I'm hoping for 5-6 years so trade in at 100kish on the clock.

Next EV will have to be smoother, better damped suspension. MME is a bone shaker.

I'd hope by that time EVs will go further without getting bigger. 250 miles winter, 300+ summer would be good. Our SR is 160 miles in winter and 220 summer. Nearly all motoway driving at 70mph.

Edit: Fully customisable driving profile like EV6, steering weight, suspension, pedal response, braking

Sounds like most of you want an Ioniq 5 😉
The I5 styling is bleh (stubby hood and weird side panels), the interior is lackluster (smaller screen, etc.), it doesn’t have 350mi+ range at highway speeds, it doesn’t charge 10-90% in less than 15mins, and it doesn’t have Level 2.5 ADAS.

But if Hyundai keeps making improvements, who knows? The I10 might be my next car.

It’s interesting just how many people have put softer suspension on their lists. That might be the most popular criteria.

That’s because you are in a MME forum and the Mach-E has an underdamped/bouncy suspension :)

You won’t hear the same requests on ID.4, EV6, i4/iX forums. And many owners here are firmly in the car enthusiast bucket and have driven/owned many cars.

The Ioniq 5 supposedly has a slightly underdamped suspension also. I always found it mushy like floaty old school sedan in my test drives.

Great thread topic- thanks!
1. 400+ mile range (that will be the deciding factor)
2. 4-door sedan (Ford SHO was my favorite car owned until my MME)
3. Faaaast!
4. Frunk
5. Apple Car Play compatible
6. Cost - more MME/Ionic than Lucid/Mercedes

A little more range - maybe 350 ish.
A little bigger - like Edge sized because I’m a tall guy.
Still fast.
Still good looking.
800 volt charging.

I’m thinking a BMW x6 EV. I could drive that for years.

I don’t upgrade frequently. I wait for big jumps in tech. I drove my last car, a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid, for nearly 12 years while I waited for an EV that checked 4 Boxes: (1) Crossover/SUV form factor, (2) stylish inside and out, (3) 250mi+ range, and (4) no more than $50k after tax credit.

The 2021 Mach E 4X Premium was the first EV to satisfy those criteria, and I bought it. And I’ve been generally pleased, but now I’ve learned enough about the pros and cons to have new criteria for my next EV:
  1. Still needs to be a Crossover / SUV form factor. I like the space and sitting a little higher on the road.
  2. Still needs to be stylish inside and out. I will not accept the bubble / blunt-nosed dorkmobile styling, or cheap interiors.
  3. A nice cushy suspension (the Mach E’s “sport tuning” is definitely not this).
  4. Well-insulated, quiet cabin (Mach E is pretty good in this regard).
  5. 350mi+ Range at 75mph.
  6. 15min DCFC from 10% to 90%.
  7. At least 3mi/kWh highway and 4mi/kWh city efficiency.
  8. “Level 2.5” ADAS (Eyes-on but otherwise self-driving on highways, including nav and truly automatic lane changes).
  9. No more than $60k (adjusted for inflation, probably closer to $80k).
This EV doesn’t exist yet, but I think it will within the next 10 years, and the first manufacturer to get there is gonna make a killing.

What’s your list?
Open for a adding a large ev with at least 300 plus miles in AWD. Price point $70000. Must have center display. Not a Tesla for lack of quality and paint interior issues. Ford Explorer may be on the ev drawing board. Hope for a 2024-25 model.

400 mile range is six figures and will be for sometime. Fast is a given.

Great question!

Other than what you've stated, it will need to have exceptional build quality. Also, top-notch dealer, and OTA support.

The charging infrastructure will need to grow before I get back into an EV, too.
