CYBER ORANGE ALL SET TO HEIGHTEN EXHILARATION: ICONIC MUSTANG COLOR NOW OFFERED FOR 2021 MUSTANG MACH-E GT
JUN 10, 2020 | DEARBORN, MICH.

2021 Mustang Mach-E GT Cyber Orange

DEARBORN, Mich., June 10, 2020 – What’s in a color? When it comes to orange, one of the most popular colors for Ford Mustang, a lot.

Ford is introducing Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat for Mustang Mach-E GT – a bold, eye-catching premium exterior color designed by the company’s color and materials experts for those who want to turn heads twice.

“Mustang has always turned heads and Mustang Mach-E will be no exception.” said Dave Pericak, director, Ford Icons. “We can’t wait for Cyber Orange to hit the streets on Mustang Mach-E GT next year to fuel the passion of our orange Mustang fans.”

Cyber Orange and Dark Matter Gray join the list of colors for Mustang Mach-E GT with deliveries starting in late summer 2021. Mustang Mach-E GT is also available in Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Star White Metallic Tri-Coat, Grabber Blue, Shadow Black, Iconic Silver and Space White.

“Cyber Orange says ‘look at me’,” said Janet Seymour, Mustang and Mustang Mach-E color & materials design manager. “There’s a certain passion in Mustang customers who really want to show off their Mustang – especially those that look to make a bold statement.”

While I’m glad they offered another bright color, I’m almost in shock that they are offering yet another option in the gray/silver family. Market research must show that people shopping in this segment REALLY love having plenty of grays and silvers to choose from.

Agree, although it's hard to complain when we were only expecting one other additional color. It also explains why the carbonized grey was dropped from the GT configurator months ago.

Yes, for reasons I really don't understand, gray cars are really popular now, especially in Mustangs -- a neighbor 2 doors down has a gray GT. I'm not surprised to have a gray option for the Mach E GT and I guess it makes sense to go for another unique GT color.

First hint at what Cyber Orange may look like (other than rendered nighttime CG). This was spied on a Bronco mule:

I think this is the first confirmation we've seen as to delay specifically related to the GT. From spring to late summer.
Not surprising, but there was still part of me that hoped Ford would ramp up production slightly to make up time, deliver the GT on original schedule, and therefore not push into delays for transition to the 2022 model year production.

Interesting the dark matter grey name doesn't appear in the list of 2021 ford colors, so it could be a rename of one of the existing dark grey. Also pretty inevitable but I also see in the press release that the release date for the GT has now been pushed to late summer 2021 from the original spring 2021

For Mustang Owners, Color Means Much More: Iconic Mustang Color Now Offered for 2021 Mustang Mach-E GT

What’s in a color? For the Mustang fans, quite a lot – in fact, it’s probably one of the biggest deciding factors when it comes to purchasing a new pony car.
“Color has been important to Mustang enthusiasts from day one,” said John Clor, manager of enthusiast communications for Ford Performance and enthusiast content on FordPerformance.com.

Clor dares anyone to go to a classic Mustang show today and try to find any two that are exactly alike.
“They don’t exist,” he added. “Once you give a person the chance to personalize their vehicle and give them the variety in Mustang’s color palette, there are endless opportunities for customization.”

In his interactions with Mustang enthusiast groups, Clor said color is just a starting point for that personalization.

“If they don’t see their preferred color of Mustang at a dealership, they’ll gladly wait to have their car built instead of settling for something on the lot,” he said. “That’s part of the persona that’s carried through every generation of Mustang.”

Mustang is a vehicle that most enthusiasts will buy for keeps, not to flip it in the next couple of years. That’s why color matters so much – it’s what enthusiasts will be driving themselves for years to come before possibly passing their Mustang on to their children or grandchildren.

“Very few things stay the same throughout nearly 60 years of product life, but for Mustang, the demand for unique color options has stayed consistent,” said Clor.
It’s no different for the all-new, all-electric Mustang Mach-E.

Today, Ford announced Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat for Mustang Mach-E GT – a bold, eye-catching premium exterior color designed by the company’s color and materials experts for those who want to turn heads twice.

“A color like Cyber Orange sets the Mustang Mach-E apart,” Clor said. “It says ‘I’m going to stand out.’” Cyber Orange and Dark Matter Gray join the list of colors for Mustang Mach-E GT with deliveries starting in late summer 2021. Mustang Mach-E GT is also available in Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Star White Metallic Tri-Coat, Grabber Blue, Shadow Black, Iconic Silver and Space White.

“It’s the perfect idea for Mach-E to establish its separation from the wannabes in the EV space, just like the original Mustang did,” said Clor. “A palette with colors like Cyber Orange is one of those differentiators.”

I am all for the delay if it means that the GT gets the required development work, I imagine most effort has been going into the first edition & premium models, last thing ford need is to release any of the models as a 'it will do' effort especially the performance edition. which will put it in the cross hairs of even more press outlets come review time.

I want to see a picture of the dark matter grey now. I wonder if it's because they got a lot of feedback that the carbonized grey was lighter than people wanted (it certainly was lighter than I wanted, along with others in the carbonized grey thread).

Edit: just realized it's available in the GT only. That's unfortunate... And seems like the wrong market for another grey.

A darker space white would be nice. Is there any pic yet of Dark Matter? Sounds like a Matte Black sort of.

gotta say that when I see fresh pics of the maxed out GT, it looks so much better than the regular model.

When I read the name of that color I imagined primer grey with a clear coat. I see that on other new cars lately. Not a fan but it's their choice I guesss....

Not for myself, but I'm glad they seem to be listening (or it's just coincidence) about the lack of "color" colors. That one is pretty cool, and I'll be happy to see some of those on the road. It's just not quite for me at this age.
