From what I understand, it is best to charge to 85% or so.

However, if your daily commute is around 20 miles, maximum, is it best to merely charge every other day, but still to 85%, versus doing it daily?

Curious on everyone’s opinion…

My daily commute is only 16 miles. I only charge when my SOC gets to about 60% and then only to 85%. I only charge to 100% on the rare occasion I go away for a few days.

Asked almost daily.

Charge to 90%, per manual.
Keep car plugged in, per manual.

Zero reason to not be at 90% every morning.

I guess I'm lazier and my life is less exciting than the posters above. I treat it like a Gas Car and charge once a week or so when I get down to 30% or so. On the rare occasion, I need to go across town; I just hit up a DC Fast charger. Which has happened once in my 26 months of ownership.

For optimal long-term battery health, it is recommended to maintain the state of charge (SOC) of NCM electric vehicle batteries around 50%. However, it is important to balance this with unexpected driving needs. As a practical solution, I set my daily charging limit to 80% during regular charging at home. This approach provides sufficient range for impromptu trips while keeping the SOC within a more favorable range for battery longevity.

If you have the new 2023 LPF standard range battery then charge to 100% daily.

Since I'm forced to go to the office twice a week and there's free charging there, I charge to 90% twice a week. It sits at 90% for a couple hours then I drive home, which takes about 10% to 15% of the battery depending on the weather. So my battery stays in the 80%-30% range most of the time as of now.

I have set a 90% SOC. I drive very little so wait until I’m down to around 80%. You never know when you’ll have to leave for an emergency so I like to have enough and some spare to get where I’m likely going to need to go. In my case, the likely scenario is a medical emergency for my parents and needing to make a trip of up to 220 miles.

I charge to 90% per manual directions. I dont drive that much so I wait till is on 50% SOC to plug it in. When doing trips out of town with a distance of more than a 100 miles I charge to 100%

Charge to 80% except if range is needed. Usually charge when down 25 to 35%. Local driving is 20 miles top end.

I commute 50 miles round trip 4 days a week. I use public charging only level 2 at a garage I park in at home. Charge twice a week between 80-90%.

Daily charge to 90%, 100% if I am traveling. When I travel I DC fast charge only to 80%. I have probably DC fast charged between 50 and 60 times. When I get home I plug in and charging starts I do not wait. Last time I checked my battery health is 94% and I have 64688 miles.

Come on now, I know this isn't your first day on the internet, why you playin' like it is? 😂

Thing is, all 12 opinions are covered by the same battery warranty and Ford likely overengineered this enough to make sure the battery will survive well past warranty no matter what your personal charging philosophy is.

Of course.

I always find it humorous when a manufacturer like Ford goes through the trouble to provide guidance, and then everyone spends so much effort avoiding that guidance, and explaining why.

You should see the oil change threads on the ICE forums. Ford created an IOLM (Intelligent Oil Life Monitor) like 10+ years ago, which looks at many factors to tell you when to change your oil. It does not analyze the oil. The harder you drive (i.e. towing), the sooner it recommends. People still freak out over it, and talk about things like engine break-in oil (no such thing any longer) and changing their oil every 3,000 miles because it's their god-given right. When you point out that the Fusion Energi recommended every 2 years 20,000 miles they freak out more.

So what are your thoughts on when we should change the rear drive unit fluids of our MME's?
😂 😂 🤪
