Dent on fender from the charging door?

Anyone find a dent on their fender from the charging door?

The hinge on the charging door is plastic and an inadvertent bump will place a nice little ding on the aluminum fender.

Seems like Ford could have used a stronger material to avoid the possibility of self imposed door dings.

It is a funky over sized design which doesn't spring back onto the plug handle, but just sits wide open, and I have already bumped into it walking by a few times where it easily pushes forward towards the bumper. I can imagine that in a public charger lot, it is easily damaged. Basically it's kind of flimsy compared to my other plugin charger doors I've had.

I have the same issue. I actually forgot to close my door on the charger (half asleep) and was backing out of my garage. I caught the very end of the door and heard a noise. I thought I avoided the worse but then noticed a little dent. The door in general is not a great design.

I went through a touchless car wash and as I exited, I got a warning that the charging door was open. I got out and it was, indeed, open. Apparently, the high pressure water jets were strong enough to release the latch.

Ok, hand-washing only for me then. Good to find that out BEFORE it goes to the car spa (and yes, that’s really it’s name ?) for the first time!

Same thing happened to me. Cost $150 to have it fixed.

I just got the same dent. Was the body shop able to remove the dent without painting?
