I think the MME is already profitable.Oh yeah it’s the tax credit and not the bath Ford has taken on EV profits
Try this yearI think the MME is already profitable.

Nothing to do with the passage of the act. Has to do with Ford looking at how well the car is selling and thinking "we can get more for this". Also, some costs have gone up considerably, like copper, of which there is a lot in the Mach e.They drank our milkshake.
Looks like the inflation reduction act just inflated the cost of a Lightning by about $7500.
Kind of like how Tesla reduced prices as soon as their tax credit started phasing out.
This isn't the same market we had a year ago. The 2023 Maverick pricing was just released and the XLT base price only increased by $80. A loaded Lariat is about $1k more. This is absolutely in response to the tax credits. Watch GM walk back their bolt price reduction too.We saw price increases year over year on the MME (without any changes to the tax credits). I don't think there's any correlation here. The Lightning price increases were going to happen regardless of the tax credit situation.
That they have, to be certain. But I was always suspicious of the timing of that reduction.Tesla changes the price several times, and has for a long time, a year based on a myriad of factors.
Ford doesn’t even qualify for the new tax credits on their EVs cause battery material is sourced from ChinaThis isn't the same market we had a year ago. A tax credit of 7.5k for the Lightning already existed, so I'm not sure how you can argue this is connected. Also in many cases the Lightning will no longer be eligible for any tax credit, so some folks will be paying 15k more than before. All it proves is that it is a sucky time to buy a new EV due to a confluence of factors, not some grand conspiracy.Come on guys. Tax credit of 7.5k and price increase of 7.5k. if one of the other OEMs did this, we would have a huge thread on it.
