Can someone give me a run down on the difference between the different drive modes. I'm not feeling much of a difference when I switch between them.

Best is for you to search the subject on YouTube videos. You’ll get good info and see them in action.

Engage

For everyday driving. This mode is the
perfect balance of excitement, comfort
and convenience. The interior lights and
cluster graphics are set to soft blue and
the driving range bar displays.

Unbridled

Unbridled mode is for sporty driving with
improved performance handling and
response. This mode increases
acceleration response and provides a
strong deceleration rate when you lift off
the accelerator pedal. Unbridled mode
makes your vehicle accelerate faster and
provides sportier steering feel. The interior
sound increases and the ambient lights
and cluster graphics are set to orange with
a graphic related to your acceleration and
steering inputs.

Whisper

Whisper mode is for relaxed driving and
adverse weather conditions. This mode
decreases accelerator response at partial
inputs and provides a more relaxed
steering feel. When you release the
accelerator pedal, your vehicle slowly
decelerates allowing for a more
comfortable ride. The interior sound is
turned off and the ambient lights and
cluster graphics are set to blue with a
graphic that changes to blue as you drive
at consistent speeds.

Whisper was silky smooth feeling for me. In unbridled you can really feel the deceleration when you let off the electrons. Not sure how they would feel if you selected 1PD. @RickMachE described it well.

Other than changing the accelerator mapping and extent of regenerative braking are there other differences? Is the extent of power steering different? I assume there is no way to change the suspension (absent magneride), correct? I ask because the text you quoted mentions “performance handling.”

Yes.. Unbridled definitely has a stiffer/tighter feel to the steering and Whisper is a bit looser.

I really like the tighter feel of Unbridled, which is why I use it most of the time.
I would probably use Engage more, I do like the feel, but I just don't like having the battery bar taking up so much space. I really wish it was all customizable.

I only got to test drive a GT, and in that car Whisper was the clear winner, for me at least. Felt more like my old 2005 GT and less like a GT stuck in low gear in terms of engine braking.

Haven't had a chance to test drive something more sedate like the R-1 I ordered. Maybe I'll prefer engaged or uncorked or whatever in that trim. Who knows?

Turn on lane keep or the distance indicator and that battery bar will go away.

I like the easier (full power) steering feel and the wider accelerator pedal range (for more finesse) that Whisper provides. Both are more luxury car than sports car.

And I don't like 1PD. I like using the brake pedal for final stopping, creep, etc. But I do like a fair degree of regen slowing down from high/medium speed. The way to get all of that is to drive in Whisper + L gear. I do that 100% of the time and love it.

Great responses from everyone above.

In short: the steering stiffens more and engine breaking is simulated more, with whisper being the lite end and unbridled being the more aggressive end.

MY acceleration is the same. It is an illusion of physics, when you add engine breaking because your momentum slows quicker, you think you take off faster.

I coast forever in whisper without slowing tremendously.
