@i8iridium Love this post and cant wait to try it out! I just need the APIN's for a SELECT trim, do you know where I could get them?

I've read through this entire thread but only seeing one reference to the Select trim. Has anyone activated this for a Select Trim?

I haven't looked for the module yet but my button on the lift gate has picture of using the foot (as someone else posted). I also have comfort and tech package.

Does your hatch have a power open/close feature? If it does, it can probably be activated. If it does not, I understand it cannot be added (for all practical purposes).

Yes I have power lift. Like mentioned I even have this button indicating hands free. I just haven’t had a chance to look for the module and deciding if I should purchase an OBDlink (had been saving for the FDRS route).

From what I understand...it sounds like every 2022 GT or Premium that has a power lift gate, has the modules. It was standard for all 2021 GT and Premium and it was an option on the 2021 Select, chances are since you have the power lift gate, and I would bet that you will have the hands free hardware for the kick to open.

The issue as I understand it may be to discover what the codes are supposed to be for the Select. I would have expected that all cars with hands free to use the same programming, but this is not the case with the Premium and GT, so I would expect the Select may be different as well.

The 2022 GT and the Premium start with the same AIPM, but require different letters to enable it to work:

Reference Stock 2022 GT/Prem Value APIM: 7D0-09-03 XXXX X2XX XXXX (not enabled)
Reference Stock 2022 Select Value APIM: 7D0-09-03 XXXX X0XX XXXX (not enabled what you stated)

Premium: 7D0-09-03 XXXX X8XX XXXX (value when enabled for Premium)
GT: 7D0-09-03 XXXX XAXX XXXX (value when enabled for GT)
Select is (?) 7D0-09-03 XXXX X?XX XXXX (value when enabled for Select)

The 7D0-09-03 to enable the hands free and the 726-27-01 is the same on the Premium and GT models:

Reference: Stock 2022 GT/Prem Value BCM: 726-27-01 XEXX X0XX XXXX (not enabled)
Reference Stock 2022 Select Value BCM: 726-27-01 XAXX X0XX XXXX (what you stated as not enabled)
726-27-01 XFXX X2XX XXXX (enabled for GT and Premium get the same code)
726-27-01 X?XX X?XX XXXX (enabled for Select)

I think I summarized this correctly-but don't know the answer...but at your risk you can guess...or hopefully someone knows.

I just found the info on a 2021 Select AWD model in my notes. I don't know if it included the optional hands free lift gate, but the codes were:
Ford Mustang Mach-E DIY How To: Add Hands-free liftgate back to 2022 Mach-E 1659754370988

Ford Mustang Mach-E DIY How To: Add Hands-free liftgate back to 2022 Mach-E 1659754414814

Perhaps that is the data you need?

I also found this for a 2021 CA Route 1 (that did NOT have an optional hands free lift gate as far as I know...so now I am confused unless all cars have the modules even if they don't have the power lift hardware?

Ford Mustang Mach-E DIY How To: Add Hands-free liftgate back to 2022 Mach-E 1659754583272

Ford Mustang Mach-E DIY How To: Add Hands-free liftgate back to 2022 Mach-E 1659754659151

I don't have data for more than one VIN of each car...but hope that helps you.

Good luck!

So I just found your reply when I came to post my 2022 Select AWD change successfully and hands free works as expected. As for the config I used what was in the first post.
7D0-09-03 XXXX X8XX XXXX
726-27-01 XFXX X2XX XXXX

Since it works should I worry I used the GT config instead of a Select? @i8iridium posted the config worked for any Mach-E with a lift gate.

You should be fine with it. There's no difference between the trim levels if it has hands free.

The Mongoose works great with FDRS but is $500. You have to use ForSCAN for this procedure, and the Mongoose can't read one of the modules you have to reprogram for this (APIM), so I would not buy the Mongoose just for this.

The OBDLink is $60 and works great with ForSCAN. That's the only hardware you need for this procedure.

So to do this you need:
 1. OBDLink EX ($60 on amazon - there are prob others that work with ForSCAN but this one def does)
 2. ForSCAN and an Extended License to unlock the reprogramming functions ($12 for a year, https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=67018)
 3. 15-20 minutes to run through the steps in the first post
I’m interested in doing this but apparently one needs a Windows machine. We’re a Mac only household. Any work around for that?

I am surprised there is so many replies to this thread for this feature when on the Ford Pass app there is icons for both the frunk and trunk, as well as this being available on access portion on display for both opening the frunk and trunk . Even on my base 2022 Select model.

The only thing I can think of is it was a mid-production line change, and instead of having a mix of vehicles with and without it, they made a software change to just disable all the 2022 that had the hardware. Maybe to stay ahead of the chip shortage? The more sinister suspicion is they're experimenting with a future paid feature. This is just me thinking out loud.
YES THEY ARE .Paid

This thread is for the hands-free portion of the liftgate, not the power portion. 2022 models have this disabled by default, so this thread is about adding the functionality back.

You are right, if I'm in the car I'll open it from the display. If I'm walking up, I usually use my FOB over my phone but if I'm walking up and both hands are full of groceries or something, I can now use my foot.

I do not carry the fob , as using my iPhone as a key always works for me. Since I never owned car that had hands free lift gate in the past ( ICE Mustangs )
But I could see that for some circumstances it be useful.
