Does your hatch have a power open/close feature? If it does, it can probably be activated. If it does not, I understand it cannot be added (for all practical purposes).I've read through this entire thread but only seeing one reference to the Select trim. Has anyone activated this for a Select Trim?
I haven't looked for the module yet but my button on the lift gate has picture of using the foot (as someone else posted). I also have comfort and tech package.

Yes I have power lift. Like mentioned I even have this button indicating hands free. I just haven’t had a chance to look for the module and deciding if I should purchase an OBDlink (had been saving for the FDRS route).Does your hatch have a power open/close feature? So I just found your reply when I came to post my 2022 Select AWD change successfully and hands free works as expected. As for the config I used what was in the first post.I just found the info on a 2021 Select AWD model in my notes. I don't know if it included the optional hands free lift gate, but the codes were:
Perhaps that is the data you need?
I also found this for a 2021 CA Route 1 (that did NOT have an optional hands free lift gate as far as I know...so now I am confused unless all cars have the modules even if they don't have the power lift hardware?
I don't have data for more than one VIN of each car...but hope that helps you.
Good luck!
You should be fine with it. There's no difference between the trim levels if it has hands free.So I just found your reply when I came to post my 2022 Select AWD change successfully and hands free works as expected. As for the config I used what was in the first post.

Since it works should I worry I used the GT config instead of a Select? @i8iridium posted the config worked for any Mach-E with a lift gate.
I’m interested in doing this but apparently one needs a Windows machine. We’re a Mac only household. Any work around for that? The Mongoose works great with FDRS but is $500. You have to use ForSCAN for this procedure, and the Mongoose can't read one of the modules you have to reprogram for this (APIM), so I would not buy the Mongoose just for this.
The OBDLink is $60 and works great with ForSCAN. That's the only hardware you need for this procedure.
So to do this you need:
- OBDLink EX ($60 on amazon - there are prob others that work with ForSCAN but this one def does)
- ForSCAN and an Extended License to unlock the reprogramming functions ($12 for a year, https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=67018)
- 15-20 minutes to run through the steps in the first post
YES THEY ARE .PaidThe only thing I can think of is it was a mid-production line change, and instead of having a mix of vehicles with and without it, they made a software change to just disable all the 2022 that had the hardware. Maybe to stay ahead of the chip shortage? The more sinister suspicion is they're experimenting with a future paid feature. This is just me thinking out loud.
This thread is for the hands-free portion of the liftgate, not the power portion. 2022 models have this disabled by default, so this thread is about adding the functionality back.I am surprised there is so many replies to this thread for this feature when on the Ford Pass app there is icons for both the frunk and trunk, as well as this being available on access portion on display for both opening the frunk and trunk . Even on my base 2022 Select model.
You are right, if I'm in the car I'll open it from the display. If I'm walking up, I usually use my FOB over my phone but if I'm walking up and both hands are full of groceries or something, I can now use my foot.I am surprised there is so many replies to this thread for this feature when on the Ford Pass app there is icons for both the frunk and trunk, as well as this being available on access portion on display for both opening the frunk and trunk . I do not carry the fob , as using my iPhone as a key always works for me. Since I never owned car that had hands free lift gate in the past ( ICE Mustangs )You are right, if I'm in the car I'll open it from the display.
