In looking at my last pic, the connector that has the 2 brown and 2 black wires is likely the sensor loop. Looks like there is a release tab above the middle brown wires. I would disconnect this connector to disable.
The other connector with the purple/black, green/yellow, and blue/red wires is likely power, ground, and signal to the BCM. If you disconnect it, you will may throw a DTC or two on the BCM module. Or it could just act like a switch and only send a signal when it senses motion so also okay to disconnect.

I'm going to try this over the weekend -- my issue is that I have a hitch receiver bar that's in the way, so not sure if my hand can be snaked properly to see and disconnect it. If that's not going to work, I'm probably going to try and kill the thing in Forscan.

Hearing how much it costs to repair the hatch if it hits from @MyLittlePony2022 last weekend has motivated me!

Following up on @scoopmans post, I rubbed the paint off mine when the hatch hit the door padding, no dent. I have a good body place and they only do it right. To paint and put clear coating, without putting a tap line, the rear window and the tail lights have to be removed. Most of the cost is in the labor to removal and then installation in preparation for the paint job. I believe they quoted $2200. I passed and just put on AOSK rear spoiler to cover the boo boo. It is plastic under the paint so it will not rust. If I ever sell the car, I will be honest and let the buyer know.

I have the option to turn this off in settings, but it is very easy for that option to inadvertantly get turned on -- or for an APIM update to turn it back on (which happened to me when I flashed to the new APIM software).

I have a short garage and my car is right up against the back door, and I am very much not interested in having my hatch open and get damaged.

Can anyone please answer my question as to where phyiscally this sensor is so I can unplug the dumb thing? I don't want to change my car's parameters in Forscan, I just want to unplug it.
Have you also tried to limit the travel of the trunk lid in the open position so it would not hit the garage door/roof if it does open?

Yes but that's not the issue. I'll take a photo Ina minute to describe my quandary.

Here's my "situation......" in photos. Got the hatch height adjusted perfectly, and you can see I park like an F1 driver boxing for tyres with a laser parking aid to leave perfect spacing for my extra fridge to open. But I am always concerned about that switch getting turned back on and the car deciding to smack the hatch against my door. As you can see, I have a cluster of foam pieces in strategic areas that should hopefully help here but....

Hmm...now I understand...I would not use kick to open...and I would disable it by reversing the code as it was from the factory and the re-initialze the AIPM.

specifically to ensure that it does not turn on, I would return the values of the AIPM of 7D0-09-03:

Reference Stock 2022 GT/Prem Value APIM

7D0-09-03 XXXX X2XX XXXX

And I would change the BCM to:

Reference: Stock 2022 GT/Prem Value

726-27-01 XEXX X0XX XXXX

And then re-initialize the AIPM.

Here are my notes for a stock 2022 GTPE and Premium:

NOTES: Stock config for 2022 GTPE shows to be:
7D0-09-0300400200193E
726-27-010E0200120077
NOTES: Stock config for 2022 Premium shows to be:
7D0-09-0300400200092E
726-27-010E0200120077
2021 GTPE:
7D0-09-0300400A001946
726-27-010F020212007A

These are the sacrifices to have a beer and extra ice cream fridge. I have a laser parking projector so I can park in the exact spot every time, but I think figuring out Forscan for this is a worthy endeavor.

Could you back into the garage? Since you have space for the fridge to open without hitting the car, it can be assumed that there will be space to open the trunk as well. This will prevent any auto lift gate opening.

Backing in also speeds up unloading groceries or accidentally opening the trunk with the fob, app, etc.

nope, charger wouldn’t work in that orientation…. Also would be tough for me to get in!

forscan solution worked though so I’m happy.

Haha priorities. Love it. Fits your name. What about moving the fridge to the shoe nook and mounting some racks in front of the car or on the side of the fridge? That way you can have your (ice cream) cake and eat it (in your MME) too.

yes that might be a good suggestion, but the fridge is very heavy, and software was a much easier solution…
